I read a *lot* of online fiction, but this is one of the stories that has come closest to the way the Ianto in my head thinks/feels. (Pardon my grammar in that previous sentence, it's after midnight for me).

This kind of internal monologue is something that comes very instinctively to me, and it is so very easy to identify/empathise with Ianto as he works through his thoughts and feelings in your narrative.

I have a knack for falling in love with people who for whatever reason are not actually available to love me back in the way I might desire, and the first 'love of my life' (I say first, because as you acknowledge in your story, it only seems that way at the time and the heart is more resilient than it seems at a given time), was and is very much like Jack in needing more love and attention than one person can provide.

Sorry for the ramble, mostly just wanted to tell you that your story had moved me deeply.
