My upstairs neighbors are arguing (have been, in the evenings at least, for a few days now). I can't hear everything that's being said loudly, but I've heard enough f-bombs, plus a few instances of "Go ahead! Call the cops right fucking now!" and threats to get lawyers, to know that it's serious. I'm keeping an ear cocked for sounds of violence and

I guess the only advice I can give, is that when it is neccesary to intervene, it will usually be pretty clear. Threats and emotional abuse are one thing, truly abusive and dangerous situations are usually glaringly obvious.
