So...a Twilight/romance con failed. Now a lot of sentimental young (& not so young) women have lost an opportunity to wallow in female power fantasies; so tragic.

If I sound intolerant, you're quite right; I have no more patience for the unrealistic psychology & poor literary quality of the Twilight novels & their ilk than I have for their masculine equivalent, the Gor novels.

Don't blame you, I was only able to make it through the first 100 pages of Twilight. Most of what I know of Twilight I learned from various snarky recaps online.

I've never never heard the comparison between Twilight and Gor before, but I see how you could draw that conclusion.

I knew that this years Twicon was going to go down in flames when they announced they had rented the entire Planet Hollywood conference center for their Vegas convention(75,000 sq ft, meeting rooms that can accommodate up to 500 people, including a 7,000-seat Theatre for the Performing Arts). THAT is a pricey non-refundable deposit.

Stick with me, Spiff, you'll probably hear a lot of things you've never heard before. But, yeah, Twilight & Gor are the yin & yang of trashy lit.
