Twicon Fail: The continuing saga.

Mar 16, 2010 00:26

Been off and on watching fallout from the Twicon demise. While nobody has claimed their spine is leaking, we do have plenty of other drama.

Now Becky is claiming they are under a gag order not to talk about this situation. My guess is the proper phrase is "under the advisement of council we cannot comment". I expect their lawyer does not want them talking, since it makes their job harder. Though she does suggest disputing the charges, as the nest way to get a full refund (since most likely anything handled through the lawyer will only be a partial refund)

In spite of the media blitz Twicon instituted last year, nobody seems to be paying attention to the con's self destruction. Dark Brilliance has some thoughts on the failure, mostly everyone remembering what a rotten time they had last year. I Felt Hope thinks part of the problem is the transformation of Twicon into a general supernatural romance con had something to do with it's failure (which is silly if you ask me) there seems to be more coverage in True Blood fandom right now than in Twilight fandom. Fanpirecullenists has posted a youtube video about how sorry she is to hear Twicon is gone. Beyond that, we just have a few places aggregating the press release about the cancellation.

Still, I've been saying since the middle of last year this con was a doomed. I knew these people were reaching far too high and promising more than they could deliver. Now all that's left is the crying and lots of fans swearing off cons all together.
