Chapter Nine:
Part Two-
“We can’t help you in getting revenge,” Doojoon explained. “I’m sorry.”
“Why not?!” Minhwan whined. “It’s not like we’re asking you to outright murder all of them! It’s just one person we want killed!”
“And it’s not like we really care which one of them dies,” Seunghyun added. “It’s just that one of them has to die. It’ll even everything out that way.”
Seungho shook his head. “We aren’t killing anyone. Did you see how hard it was for us to even think about having to kill Commander Yoon?”
“Fine, we’ll do it ourselves,” Hongki stated. “Come one, guys. We have to get back to our place to get ready. This will be an all-out war against them.”
“But, hyung,” Jaejin interrupted. “Why does it have to be a war? Can’t we just let them apologize for killing Wonbin?”
“No!” The loudness of his voice made them go quiet. “Jaejin, how can you just accept the fact that they killed one of us? Does their killing Jonghun’s boyfriend mean nothing to you?”
“Hyung,” Jonghun said, placing his hand on the eldest’s arm. “Even though I miss him, killing one of them isn’t going to bring him back. Why are we always fighting with them anyway? Don’t you think it’s stupid?”
All Hongki could do was stare at his friend. “How can you forgive them so easily?”
Jonghun sighed, turning to look directly at his friend. “Forgiving someone is never easy, hyung. But why let hate build until it destroys us? It doesn’t make sense to me.”
“Coward.” Hongki left the house, slamming the door behind himself. He stomped down the porch stairs and started walking down the road.
“Yah, are you okay?” someone asked from the side. He turned his head in their direction. “I’m Henry. Henry Lau.”
“I’m Lee Hongki. And, yes, I’m okay.”
“Then why are you crying?”
Confused by the question, he reached up to his face, finally noticing his tears. “Oh, I didn’t know that I was.” He laughed a little. “Thanks for pointing it out to me, though.”
“No problem. I’m not a resident here, so I’m not sure where to go. Do you know where I can find a guy named Ryeowook?”
“I think he lives just down the road a little ways.”
“Thanks!”
“What about where Kyuhyun and Sungmin live?” another guy asked. “Oh, I’m Zhoumi by the way.”
“Nice to meet you.” Hongki thought for a moment. “They live on the eastside of town, I think.”
“Thanks. Hey, if you don’t mind my asking, why were you crying?”
He frowned, remembering the conversation. “Long story short, a friend of mine was killed a little while back. My other friends don’t think it’s wise to get revenge, but I think we need to get even, for our dead friend’s sake. I know it won’t bring him back, but shouldn’t the guy who killed him have to suffer, too?”
Henry and Zhoumi nodded. “If they won’t help you, we will. It’s not fair that you have to suffer and not them.”
Smiling, Hongki walked up onto the porch, handing his phone to them. “If you enter your numbers, I’ll give you a call when I see the guy who should die. He killed my friend and made my other friend suffer, since they had been dating.”
“Losing the one you love really hurts.” Henry sighed. “And I say this from experience. I lost the love of my life over one mistake. I came here to get him back.”
“Good luck, Henry!” He smiled. “I’ll make sure that the others don’t know of this. If they find out I’m asking for help, they’ll reject me. They think that I should just forgive the guy who hurt us, but I can’t do that.”
“Yah, could you help me get revenge in return?” When Henry and Hongki looked at him, Zhoumi continued. “Sungmin stole the love of my life away, spouting lies about the relationship we had. I want my Kui Xian back.”
“I’ll help!” Glancing at the road, he noticed the four adults and the child from the other night. “Yah! Guys, wait for me! I know who attacked you!”
Hearing his voice, Taemin flinched and hid behind Jonghyun. Minho and Jinki glared at him while Key ran up to greet him. The boy hugged Hongki around his knees.
“Oppa, you know who hurt my Taeminnie Oppa?” Key asked.
“Key, get down here!” Jinki grumbled. “He’s the one who jumped Taemin-ah.”
“I did no such thing!” He scooped Key into his arms. “For good measure, it ones the bastards of One Day who attacked you. The Five Treasures are sworn enemies of One Day and we won’t accept being lopped together with them!”
“Five Treasures?” Jonghyun laughed. “That crackpot group proclaiming peace yet get into fights everyday?”
“We are not crackpots,” Jonghun interrupted. He came walking up with the remaining members of FT. “When you didn’t come back, we got worried about you, hyung. Are you okay?”
“I’m fine, Jonghun. In fact, forget about what I said about revenge, okay? It doesn’t matter anymore. Let’s get going. I’m starved.”
Key squealed. “Appa, can I have food with Carrot Oppa?”
“Carrot Oppa? Who or what is Carrot Oppa?” Jinki stared at his son, waiting an explanation.
“Hongki Oppa is, silly. His hair is orangey. So that makes him Carrot Oppa!”
“The mind of a kid is one thing I’ll never understand,” Minho chuckled.
Sighing, Jinki smiled at his son. “If it’s alright with them, why don’t we all just meet at Kyuhyun’s café and get something to eat.”
“Great idea, Jinki hyung!” Minhwan stated. “We can talk about our next action against One Day!”
Hongki nodded his goodbye to Henry and Zhoumi, walking with Key down to the road. He tried to give him back to Jinki. Key pouted, going back to his dad. They walked down the road, heading toward Kyuhyun’s café, talking about nothing in particular. Jaejin had stopped a little ways back, his eyes resting on something that disturbed him.
“Yah, Jaejin hyung!” Seunghyun shouted, waving for his friend to hurry. When there was no indication of him moving, Seunghyun walked back to him. “Yah, what are you staring at so…” Noticing the group of people down the side road, he dropped his sentence. At his quietness, the others walked back to him and Jaejin.
“Yah, why’d you stop?” Jonghun looked over at the group of people his two friends were staring at. “Aren’t they…?”
“They’re from One Day,” Hongki offered.
The one sitting on the road shouted at them. “Yah, can you help us, please?” His voice made the nine of them jump and Key squeal. He wiggled out of Jinki’s arms and ran toward the new faces, giggling.
“Key!” Jinki yelled after him, too scared to move closer to the people who had jumped Taemin. It wasn’t until Hongki and Jonghun ran after Key that he finally moved.
“Hello, Oppa!” Key greeted Junsu with his cute voice.” My name is Key. What’s yours?” Jonghun and Hongki were close enough to hear the answer.
“I’m Junsu,” he replied through gritted teeth.
“Why are you sit-” Jinki snatched him from the ground before he could finish his sentence. “Appa! Down! I want down!”
“No, Key. They’re dangerous,” Jinki whispered.
Changmin laughed hollowly. “Do we seem dangerous right now? Junsu has a broken leg and none of us know what the hell is wrong with Taecyeon. He went crazy when-”
“Did you just say Taecyeon?” Hongki asked. When the other nodded, he lunged at Taecyeon. Jonghun barely managed to grab onto him.
“Yah, Hongki, calm-” Jonghun began.
“You killed Wonbin, you bastard!” He tried to break free from Jonghun’s hold. Jaejin came running up, helping Jonghun restrain him.
“Hyung, calm down. You need to calm down,” Jaejin stated.
Key looked at the five new faces. “Are you bad people?”
“Yes!” Hongki hissed.
“No, we aren’t bad people,” Jinwoon explained. “We did what we had to because of orders from Jaebe-” He staggered when Taecyeon punched him.
“Don’t you dare mention that bastard’s name around me…” Taecyeon growled. He winced once he looked at Junsu. His eyebrows furrowed, him finally realizing they weren’t at the base. “Where are we…?” He looked around.
“You’re in Lakeside!” Key offered, smiling.
