Were I thinking about spreading disinformation about the Occupy movement, this would be as good a place to start as any.Of course, one can only speculate about the source. Could be yer man there just pretending to be a dope-addled hippy for The Press, could be that someone else is using said handy dope-addled hippy as a conduit, could be a story ( Read more... )

Christ, that lot are paranoid enough already. The whole time they were there they wouldn't talk to anyone and surrounded their encampment with signs and graffiti rants about teh New World Order / Rothschilds / Bilderberg Lizard conspiracy. Sad really.

The comments on that Evening Post site fair turned my stomach. I hope they keep their squat - it'll piss off the rich people and also give a lot of desperate folk somewhere to stay. A lot of people are going to become homeless over the next couple of years as a result of some of the very things they're protesting about (ie, the real stuff rather than the acid-trip conspiracies). My thoughts are with them.

There do seem to be certain dog whistle phrases that can tip off the suitably knowledgeable to the crackpottery of others.

For me, it was the words "chemtrails" and "HAARP" on a banner at the TUC march last year. I mean, really...

I'm sure there should be a 'HAARP stays shaarp' joke in there somewhere.

Quite. Although passing familiarity with Adam Curtis demonstrates that the alleged interests in mind control are really down to trying to make people buy more things.

I dunno - there do seem to be a lot of cruel and evil people in charge, but they are a lot more open about their activities than the conspiraloons make out.

It's this mystification of power that bothers me, the way conspiracy theorists go out of their way to make people feel helpless and feeble... and that's why I've become convinced that the greatest conspiracy ever achieved is in fact, the growth of conspiracy theories themselves!

Imagine the rise of conspiracy theories on a trend line from the 1940s to the present day. Now imagine a trend line detailing the rise of the Bibbleberg Group and the CIA. Guess what? The lines show that the CIAs power and influence (in my head) grew exponentially alongside the Bilderberg Group and the rise of... you guessed it, conspiracy theories! WAKE UP SHEEPLE!

PS: I maded a graph, so it must be TROOF!
