Also good in Lidl:

Gherkins
Artichoke Hearts
Pierniczki (chocolate covered soft Ginger biscuits, usually heart-shaped)

Gold star goes to the LASAGNE though. Best I've ever eaten.

You know what, my ex went shopping in Lidl and when he came back I teased him mercilessly for being a chav. And then I tried the lasagne and sent him back for more :)

I can remember bringing up the topic of Lidl food at a gathering once, and watching as people gradually admitted to buying from there. It was like Alcoholics Anonymous.

The bottled beer in there/Aldi (modulo Finkbrau) is generally far more pleasant than the stuff one usually finds in the local offy.

Apart from the offy on Archway road just past the kebab shop when you walk north from Highgate tube. An entire wall of very random German beers.

Well, quite.

I'm not sure that a positive review in the Daily Record is a signifier of quality. If it's hateful I can pour it in the compost; it'll either explode or start the slugs in there fighting amongst themselves.

Shake it up and use it as a firearm. Or run your car on it - two bottles of that should probably take you just about anywhere you need to go :-)

That's probably true in both cases; as tipple or as fuel.
