Glasses from They Live.

One of the myriad channels that come vomiting out of the cable-box is the no bowels/no vowels version of Fox, FX TV. Presumably sanitised for the ickle flowers of the UK audience by the removal of the 'o', or perhaps the execs out there in teevee land think it's some jolly clever disguise, it's still right-wing filth of the most impressive order ( Read more... )

You try living here!

Do you have Fox News in the UK? Truely something to make the bile boil.

Not that I'm aware of. Well, I suppose there's Sky News, but I don't know who provides their coverage.

The only difference I've ever noticed between UK/US channels is that Law & Order (all three flavours) has a different theme tune on Hallmark than on Channel 5.

I'm half convinced it was the odd effect of realising I was watching a known right-wing channel and thus being more aware of the material in that context.

I don't wonder that if TW carried 'The impenetrably postmodern channel', otherwise 'normal' programmes would be viewed through that particular lens.

I think the Hallmark channel uses the domestic editions of L&O, whilst Sky and C5 have the international versions.

The Hallmark L&Os all have really terrible re-treads of the original L&O music (especially Criminal Intent) and similarly cheap-looking credits, whilst the export versions all have modern-sounding music and more artistic credits.

BUT I HAVE NO IDEA WHY!

Some people complained about Nip/Tuck because it's OTT and all the characters are unsympathetic. But that's why it's such fun!

Oh. Blast. I'm going to have to watch a couple of these FX things on the off-chance that they're actually parody.

Damn you for making me re-evaluate my pop-cultural assumptions!

Nip/Tuck started off semi-serious, but as time went by the level of melodrama went to a whole new level. Season 2 was just plain bizarre.

I really hate TV.

I wish I wasn't addicted to the odd show here and there.

I do remember to take off my They Live glasses when I turn it on, though. Otherwise I'd explode.
