Yeah! When Moffat said about his hair being right, I thought, uh oh. They're trying to clone Tennant.
From what I've seen, he doesn't act like Tennant, at all, but obviously if Moffat tells him to go in a certain direction and that's a Ten-like direction... =S
He looks like he belongs in an angsty vampire drama to me (from the promo pics, though I have seen him in Sally Lockhart)!
But I'm very nearly excited. (On the "it's too far away still" side of excited!) It'll be a brand new show. I want a new costume, and new companions, and maybe even a different looking TARDIS. Because then Moffat can't hurt what we already love.
Though I do think he'll do a good job in charge, because it's all his shots to call. (I love his other shows.)
Though I do think he'll do a good job in charge, because it's all his shots to call. (I love his other shows.) - Ooh, that's a really good point. My problems with Moffat seem to stem from his writing of characters he didn't invent (River aside). When they're all his, maybe it'll be different.
He looks like he belongs in an angsty vampire drama - He DOES! I was like, please, put him in Twilight, it might actually have been worth watching then. I think it's the hair, though. It was a real shock to see him with that hair and sans a Cockney accent after Sally Lockhart!
Because then Moffat can't hurt what we already love. - Mmm. *clings to RTD* As long as he doesn't go and settle down with anyone, I can handle shipping Eleven with someone. It's Moffat messing with Ten - as you said, hurting relationships and characters we already love - that I can't watch.
When they're all his, maybe it'll be different. We can hope, at the very least. I'm hoping for two companions again--one male and one female. Don't care what their relationship is, I'd just like two. Then we don't have Doctor romance angst, and I'm sure with more people to buffer off each other, Moffat's characters will be interesting. He is a really good writer, but he seems best, like you said, when he's writing his own people.
Oh, I love Twilight anyway. It's just so ridiculous! And the movie sort of bounced back and forth between really good bits and hilariously bad bits. Anyway.
I'm going to have to watch Sally Lockhart again; I've only got vague memories of it, and they're mostly "FREDDDD! How RUDE they do that to you!"
I see you worries about another 10. I share them. But I think he has a different, quirky energy to him. And a different sort of darkness. He's definitely got the mysterious vamp thing going on XD
I'm reserving judgment until I see him in action, but I'm optimistic. Mostly I just feel sorry for the poor boy. He's so excited to get the role, can't wait to tell the world... and I picture him the next day checking the message boards to find seemingly the entire internet HATES HIM WITH THE FIRE OF A MILLION BURNING SUNS. But he has to wait over a year to prove himself.
I want to pat him and send him cupcakes and cards with puppies and flowers and phrases like "You can do it! Reach for the stars!"

Yes, I am =D I'm sorry I haven't been around! I've been busy with uni and things, and I do have the time to drop a quick note here and there but it feels hypocritical to do so and expect people to read when I don't have the time to catch up with everyone else. How is life going for you at the moment? =)
