DW finale (spoilers and rambling and...stuff)

I'm just apologising for not reading reaction posts to Journey's End yet.

Basically, the ending was more than I'd ever realistically hoped for and I am happy even with the sadness and I want to hang onto that. No doubt I will develop issues with it in time - but for now I am happy and squeeing and enchanted with this heartbreaking, wonderful new ( Read more... )

Totally agreed.

I am incredibly happy with the ending. This is so much more than I expected even in my wildest dreams.

This is so much more than I expected even in my wildest dreams. - God, me too! I can't actually even think about it without squealing and crying.

And I understand why people have problems with it, I do. But I just can't hear about them right now.

Yes, I can understand why people might mind, but emotionally, for me this feels so good and so right. You don't want to know how many times I've rewatched the scene. And one of the things I love the most is that Rose gets Ten but with that bit of Nine's guilt and edge, so it's about the best combo ever.

it's about the best combo ever. - It is! And I've heard about people not liking it because it's not a brick wall happy ending and it will be difficult for them, as though RTD didn't realise that. But I think part of the whole beauty of it is that he did realise that, otherwise they'd've just started snogging all over the beach again at the end. And we realise that too. And I'm happy that it's not easy and perfect. And... argh, basically I cannot convey with words how in love I am with this ending. XD

I am extremely happy with what we got.
Its so much more than what I thought we would have gotten.
In a lot of ways it was the perfect ending to the Rose/Doctor pairing.
I wonder if we will be lucky enough to see them again.

*I'm* happy with it. The thing is, yes, I had hoped that Ten could experience some emotional growth and happiness and live a life with Rose. I'm getting that, but it's not the Doctor we're going to see onscreen for the remainder of the show. Once I realized RTD wasn't going to give us that-and it was only ever a slight hope, anyway-I was fine with the ending. Rose and her Doctor will be happy together. They'll have a fantastic life, whether that means more adventures in time and space(well, space maybe) or part-Time Lord babies or both. It's bittersweet, because Ten's out in the cold, but it never would have NOT been painful in some way.

it never would have NOT been painful in some way. - Well, yeah, exactly. Of course I wanted him to wander off into the sunset with Rose (or, you know, something less cliché), but... well, then there'd be no show. It'd just be the TARDIS wandering around space or something LOL.

Oh, I agree with you ehtirely. That ending was basically the most a shipper could hope for, and while brown!Ten didn't get his happily ever after, blue!Ten just about did (you know, eventually. After all the development stuff that makes fiction so fun. And you know he's going to grow his own TARDIS [RTD basically said so in an earlier draft of the script, AND THAT IS MY CANON DAMMIT] and will spend his mid-life crisis wandering the cosmos. He just... will. He and Rose, together, will.) And blue!Ten IS the Doctor. He has some differences, yes, but he's closer to Ten than another regeneration even. And if Farscape taught me anything, it showed me that one version is just as good as another. No matter who ends up with the TARDIS or the girl.

They're both still "the Doctor".

I just have a few other issues, but no need to put them here and kudos to you for holding onto that happiness! I give into the urge to read negative stuff far too much.

Oooh, and did you watch the Confidential? 'Cos it's shippy to the max, yo. :P

After all the development stuff that makes fiction so fun. - Eee, yes =D

And you know he's going to grow his own TARDIS [RTD basically said so in an earlier draft of the script, AND THAT IS MY CANON DAMMIT] - This makes me even happier. Also, whenever people say stuff got cut from the scripts, it makes me want to see every single draft of these scripts so much. Who knows what we're missing out on?!

They're both still "the Doctor". - Yes. They might make different choices after the second Doctor was created, but they are the exact same person at that point of creation. Just put into different situations later (I mean, even Time Lordy Ten was going to say "I love you" when he thought it was his last chance). And if the human Doctor hadn't acted, they'd all be dead. So, you know. The Doctor does what he has to do. Just because he doesn't hold a gun doesn't mean he never kills people.

Oooh, and did you watch the Confidential? 'Cos it's shippy to the max, yo. :P - I KNOW, RIGHT. THE KISSING? I feel like Davros used his reality bomb on ( ... )
