I sympathize with you... especially about the food/eating. Living in hotels and being on the road every week has packed some serious pounds on me. The company, of course, won't cover the cost of eating well/healthfully at your typical restaurant (fish costs an arm and a leg most places!), and I just can't afford to cover the cost of eating out all the time myself. The worst part, though, is that when I am home, we cook a lot - the problem is that my boyfriend is a wonderful chef who LOVEs the use of butter... and bacon... and cheese.... You get the idea. It just all tastes so good!
I used to keep a food journal - maybe I ought to start that back up, because you are right. Just writing it down and looking at that daily list curbs it!
If anyone can get back into the swing of better living, you can. You are one of the most determined people I know!
I was shocked to discover that my friends in Chicago had never - ever! - eaten salmon. I understood why when I saw the prices for it, and that would usually be nasty farmed Atlantic salmon. Ick.
Hi! :) I don't post here anymore, but I still try to keep up with my friends.
The Atlantic farmed crap is everywhere out here - I have been educating my boyfriend on the difference. Ick is an understatement. He used to hate salmon, at least until he tried "real" salmon (aka wild caught Alaskan salmon).
When I have the money, I buy Alaskan salmon and halibut via mail order from a place out of Anacortes. However, that may no longer be necessary as our local grocery store seems to finally be carrying on a regular basis for a (somewhat) reasonable price. And I can get really good canned Alaskan wild caught salmon at the Costco here.
actually I'm going through the same thing. I weighed in at 300 the other day and now I'm trying to do something about it, course I haven't ever set foot in a gym, and I have NO IDEA what to do about it.
I totally emphasize with the out of control diet. I understand the soreness of working out...I get like that after a couple of rounds of DDR. But, I always feel better despite the soreness.
You would be sore for me if I detailed what the trainer had me doing yesterday morning. I can't compare it to DDR (I have never, ever played it) but it was tough. It involved triceps dips and arnie presses. I know from prior experience, though, that the intense soreness will go away if I go back.
I worry more about my disastrous relationship with food. That's much harder. After reading about the Profanity Diet, I respect y'all's battle to change your diet up a LOT. Like... wow. Even a few days of that would have made me batty.
I know you've got your own issues with health problems, but if you need a friend to talk to, you know where to find me.
I used to weight train when I was younger so I totally understand the soreness of tricep dips and arnie presses. I'm assuming that is a military or should press. It's a burning, stiff soreness and it will go away if you go back. But, I always loved that soreness because for some silly reason, it made me feel strong. :)
Yeah, the profanity diet. I continue to try to eat according to that diet and only succeed about a third of the time. Although, with all this new stuff, I might revert back to an earlier stage in the diet and just eat chicken and rice for a while. I seriously don't think that I will ever eat lamb again.
Thanks for the friendship extension. We'll have to get together sometime. Lucas and I are moving to Bellevue so that'll put us a little closer to you.

It's a lot easier to gain weight than lose it, that's for sure.
