30-Day Anime Meme: Day Seven
Day 7 - Favorite Anime Couple
I have a really bad habit of shipping myself with characters I like from anime, so I had to think about this one a lot too. And after ruminating for an appropriate amount of time, I have to say that this is my favorite anime couple:
Kisuke Urahara & Yoruichi Shihouin from Bleach would be my other choice, but Ren Honjo and Nana Osaki from NANA are my favorite anime couple so far by a very small margin~ ♥
I mean, I love semi-dysfunctional relationships and intense, spontaneous, angry sex, right? Ren and Nana *totally* do that for me. I also like how no matter how outrageous they are on the outside, they still really care for each other on the inside. And sometimes their relationship is painful to watch, like when they broke up following Ren's moving to Tokyo to join Trapnest and Nana was too proud to follow him, give up her dreams of fame, and just be a wife. Or their intense reunion following the Nanas' trip to see the Trapnest concert in Hachiko's hometown. Just... *rapturous sigh*
They are such sensitive, yet provocative people, and I love how they are the others' kryptonite. Call me crazy, but I really like that they truly love each other even if it's a love that gets at least borderline obessessive at times. And it's just the cutest thing when they share baths and talk about their lives and relationship! Seriously, I want to give them candy, it's so CUTE~ I want a significant other that I can do that with. >_<
If you like shoujo (I know most of you on my f-list don't, but just in case any random readers out there do, and you haven't checked out NANA I recommend you do so! It hasn't updated in over a year, but that's because Yazawa-sensei got sick and is recovering from a servere illness, according to the NANA Wikipedia page. But I'm wishing her a speedy recovery and hoping for a return of NANA very soon~
