Andy had been brought up with the strictest respect for adults, there was no way he'd ever call the kind Professor by his first name. Adults were for discipline and authority, nothing more, or so Andy had been taught. It was somewhat of a miracle the Gryffindor seeked him out for reassurance and comforting words; that he could feel so comfortable with an adult than he ever had before.

In earlier years Andy might have been tempted to compare the two during moments of feeling blue. It was a competition he was never going to win. Mac, always neatly dressed and speaking correctly, was mostly perfect in Andy's eyes. He often wondered why he'd never fancied the man, it seemed rather logical that he should but he'd never felt even the slightest twinge of a crush. He considered Brinley Watson and thought that maybe he had to hate a person a little in order to like them? He hoped that wasn't always the case.

"I'm just not hungry is all," he said, standing in the doorway hesitantly.

Not all adults were only for those things. Andy had just been unlucky with those that had he had interacted with, much like Mac. Fortunately, Andy had someone to look up to in Mac and that he could come to for consult. Any student, or child, should have at least one of those types of people in their lives he believed. A life advisor as it were.

Whether Andy crushed him or not, Andy was still sure to fancy him in his own way. Why else would the boy be able to come to him about his problems as he was doing right now?

"Really," Mac stared him down for a moment. That was for sure a lie. Well, Andy may not have been but there had to be more a reason for him to come and speak to him in the dorms. Mac knew him better than that. He stepped forward and clapped a hand on his shoulder, "Are you sure there is nothing wrong? I always tell you that anything you come to me with is strictly between us unless you need a greater amount of help."

Damn Mac's stare downs, Andy could never hold his gaze when he was lying and when he looked away, he knew the Professor knew there was something wrong. He felt his mentor's hand clasp his shoulder and he broke.

"I had a pretty big fight with my best friend yesterday. I don't think we've ever had a serious argument before. This one more than made up for years for peace though." His voice hit the walls and faded away as if the sentence wasn't worthy of echoing. "Merlin's beard, that sounded so weak. I'm not in elementary school anymore, I should just grow up." He turned around to leave.

"Sorry I wasted your time, Sir."
