Well, ho ho ho, Sean always felt silly, so perhaps they had a bit in common?

At any rate, the lass manning (er, womanning?) the wand station was pretty. Had red hair, just like himself, only she was a girl and all pretty-like and her hair was redder, and honestly, the boy didn't know a damned thing about wands for Merlin's sake, but it wasn't as though he knew anything about anything unless it were Quidditch.

What a day for learning!

So, he strode up to the lovely little display, hands upon his hips like the heroic lad he was, and declared, "Sean Brightwell. Ten inches! Hawthorn, unicorn hair, enlighten me!"

If red hair and sillyness truly counted for anything, then that made two things they had in common and that was more than Elizabeth could say for most people. Although, she'd probably be surprised to find that people were more like her than she realised, that is if she'd take the time to actually get to know anyone other than her family members and Old Batty, whom most people knew as Ollivander. If Elizabeth had actually been writing that down, she probably would have given her head a good shake over the ridiculous amount of commas. A ridiculous amount here meaning three.

Elizabeth's eyes flickered up to fall upon a bloke who appeared to be older, possibly a seventh year, who approached in a very odd fashion. If Elizabeth could put a label to it, she'd probably say that it was much like striding, which was highly unsual considering the circumstances. She'd been alone at her silly wand booth all day and suddenly she has someone striding up to her? Well, well, he kind of resembled her older brother, but with lighter hair. He was an ( ... )

"Hullo Elizabeth Edwards, splendid t' meet you!" Sean, er, shouted. With the hands still on the hips, like a weird akimbo statue. After a moment of that awkwardness, he dropped his hands and relaxed his stance. And waved. As though to punctuate the greeting with an extra dose of friendliness.

"Ho ho ho, interestin', interestin'," he mused, pulling the ten inch wonder from his pocket as she spoke, looking it over. He'd not be deterred by a ramble or two or twenty, he liked 'em just fine. A girl who was pretty and could ramble! Perhaps wands were the business to be looking into, huh? Huh?

He looked up from his careful examination of his wand and chortled. Yes. Er, chortled. "Jes' so happens, actually, that I am a Hufflepuff an' was almost sorted int' Gryffindor, how d'ye like that? How do'ye know all this, then, tell me yer secrets, I'll tell ye mine, it'll be grand, we'll become ol' friends, like yeah ( ... )

Elizabeth was fairly certain that waves were usually gestures that took the place of a greeting, not something to appear a minute or two into conversation. He might have been meaning to add a little extra friendliness to his statement, but he only managed to confuse her slightly. For some reason, talking to a student made her nervous. Perhaps because she'd never been able to talk to them much when she was one herself. Either way, her smile was rather small, though the cheerful attitude was appreciated.

"It is rather interesting, in my opinion," she agreed with him, nodding her head and staring at his wand for a few moments. It was in better condition than most she'd seen around the castle, though he was probably not as obsessive as she was about wand care. Ah well. Who was these days?

Elizabeth grinned as Sean mentioned that he was a Hufflepuff, who'd almost been sorted into Gryffindor. Well, it would appear that she had caught on a bit to this wand business. Opening up her own shoppe didn't seem so far off now! She was definitely ( ... )
