"OY!!"

Bastian had been in the process of walking down the third corridor of his night patrol when he heard the bellow. He recognized it, of course, but the fact that Veronica was standing there bellowing at nine o'clock at night was something that didn't quite sink into his brain.

Why was she bellowing at him?

Or perhaps she wasn't yelling at him at all. Despite that thought, he turned around and headed back around the corner, raising an eyebrow and crossing his arms as she came into view. "Did you just oy me? What am I, some kind of animal?"

His tone was utterly amused as he walked toward her.

Oh, so they were going to play that game, then?

He could play that game. He hadn't been aware that they were heading in that direction, but he didn't mind it in the least. Any game with her tended to be enough fun to make up for any work that he had to do, so with a grin as he continued down the hall, he shot back, "Only might be?!"

Snicker.

"You're losing your touch, methinks."

Ah, he knew good and well that she still had her touch; after all, they were great friends with rather amazing benefits. He knew probably better than anyone that she wasn't losing said touch, but it was all in jest, as usual.

Thank Merlin he was almost done his shift.

Losing her touch!?

Was he actually insinuating that Veronica Sullivan was losing her touch!? The man had obviously gone mental. There was no other way of describing this, at all. He'd simply lost his mind, and that was that.

"I think you're losing my uh.. touch, as it were, love," she replied smoothly, winking over her shoulder as she continued heading toward her room. She'd leave him with that parting remark, and let him wallow in it while he finished his bloody work.

Work! How lame.

Really, she'd slacked off many a time to play with Sebastian! Pout.

Oh.

Snap!

Well, she was right, in a sense... but then again...

Okay, so he could just tell them that he'd gone doing his job properly if they asked. It wasn't as though one corridor would make the difference, after all! He'd been down these corridors many times, and they'd never been corrupted with any kind of Dark Magic, so he felt assured in the fact that he could turn around and follow Veronica without issue.

So, that's what he did.

Spinning around, he smoothly headed after her, though he didn't speak to let her know that he was following. No, he would likely surprise her when she reached her door -- that was his plan, anyway. Who knew if it would actually work?

Surprise her? Pffft!

She knew that one of two things was bound to happen.

He'd either turn right around and follow her, or else he'd finish that last measley corridor and then come running after so that he wasn't far behind. Regardless of the outcome, she was expecing him to pop up not long after she'd left.

And that was just what had happened.

She smirked as she rounded the corner and headed down the one flight of stairs to the floor on which her quarters were. It was easy to tell that there was a presence not far behind. However, choosing to indulge him, she let out a sad, pitiful sigh and continued on to her room.

Once there, she took an extra long time unwarding it, drawing out the little game with glee.
