Re: FIRST YEARSjuliandanesbyMay 31 2006, 13:31:50 UTC
Julian entered the classroom. He was a bit shocked to see Professor Faust was not there. He was very curious on what happened to him. All the same he sat down, took out his book, and then began to research the stunning charms. Since he was the only one in class so far he would have to wait to get a partner because he hated doing work by himself if he didn't have to.
Practically skipping into the class, Jeannie prepared her greeting- "Hello Professor--" and stopped. There seemed to be no professor. Had he been transformed into a small-looking black furry creature? She began to worry until she saw the note on the board. Phew.
It looked rather cute, though. She wanted to pet it- but she saw the order not to written on the board, and instead sat down and waited for someone she knew to come in.
Ming ran a hand through his hair, ruffling it and making it messier than usual. He had been very tempted to wear one of his caps, but knew the professor wouldn't like it. And he actually liked DADA, so for once, he tried not to get on the professor's bad side. It just wouldn't do, since he considered this class to be his favourite. After Potions, that is.
But one look into the classroom and he knew cap or not, he didn't have to worry. Unless the black little creature turned out to be a nosey reporter of some sort, reporting every bit back to its master.
He gave both classmates a slight nod and took a seat behind Jeannie, eyes studying creature curiously. Just what would happen if he did pet it? Would it combust like a phoenix would? Suddenly he was very intrigued

Below are listings of three Dark Creatures that you should know about after two years of this course. List out their properties and details that you should be aware of in the case of confronting one of these. Individual work, Roxas is watching.

The absence of Faust was anything but reassuring for Beatrice, who was late as usual and slumped into her desk well after everyone else had entered. She took her time pulling her books out, nervously eyeing Roxas with every few movements.
"Jaci," She hissed after finally getting set up, "He likes you - did the professor tell you what he's doing today? He's not going to show up and test us, is he?"

Jaci herself had been on time, even a little bit early, practically skipping into the Defence classroom, her schoolbag bouncing lightly against her back with each and every step. Her hair wasn't in her customary plaits, for once, but instead was pulled away from her face with a simple gray band that matched her skirt and allowing it to bounce around her face when she turned her head and looked around the room.
Roxas had intrigued her the instant she spotted him, but she wasn’t easily bothered by creatures, particularly if he’d been left by their teacher. Instead, she just read the board and moved on to her usual seat near the front of the room. Without waiting, she’d pulled out a fresh sheet of parchment and set up her quill and ink well. “Easy as pie,” she muttered to herself, getting to work on her own paper, despite the fact that the professor wasn’t there.
“How should I know?” she whispered back in Bea’s direction and shook her head. “S’not like he was here when I got here either. He might, though. Another oral quiz, who knows

As one of Ana's favorite classes (favorite because she actually did quite well in it), Ana actually entered with a pleasant smile on her face. It, of course, did not last very long as she noticed she was the only Slytherin to have arrived and the other two were chatting amongst themselves.
She took her seat, glanced at the board, and sighed. It looked like there would be no hands-on applications today, just book-work which she abhorred. But as the subject wasn't too boring, she pulled out her book, quill, and ink pot, and started to work.
If Veronica could ever be described as bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, she might have gained sunshine points today as she walked into class promptly at eight o'clock in the morning. Of course, to her, she didn't think she was anything different - her moods pretty mundane and monotonous during all periods of day. And though Defense was not her best subject, she actually didn't dread the class.
Until today. The Confundus charm? She widened her eyes as she sat in her seat. The professor wanted them to use them on each other? Was he mad? Poor Mason was already confused as it was - with his love life, or lack of one - and she was still hesitant with her wandwork. And if Mason confunded her, how long would the charm last? She swallowed and opened her book to the correct page. She eyed the words, practicing them under her breath, hoping it would be quick and painless, waiting for Mason to arrive.
Review the previous chapter on Voodooism and complete the questions in the back of the book. Address six examples of each type of Voodooism and whether they count as Dark or neutral. I expect the parchment to be at least four-feet long minimum.
Assign yourselves into pairs (or work independently if you have no friends), and choose one of the topics outlined below. You are to prepare a full simulation of that topic, a case study, and present it with your partner in the next class. No two groups may choose the same topic.

((Gryffindor/Slytherin Class Thursday 1pm))
Jackie entered the class, a bit surprised to find she was the first one there considering a few of her friends loved the subject more than she did. She took her seat, pulled out her book, quill, inkpot, and parchment. She wasn't sure who'd she be partnered with - probably Charlie or Keeley, as Phillip would probably be partnered with Erik. So, she figured she'd start jotting down notes and ideas until one of them arrived. At random, she chose werewolves as they were the first listed. Honestly, she wouldn't care if her partner said 'no, let's do dementors instead' because at least, she'd have learned a little about werewolves while waiting.

((Ravenclaw/Hufflepuffly Class!))
Juhi walked into DADA and almost groaned. She didn't particularly WANT to be first to this one. Then she noticed things were a little different today. Professor Faust was nowhere in sight, but there was a strange creature watching her from his desk.
Juhi approached Roxas (apparently) without getting too close, and tilted her head to the side, studying him for a moment or two. Then she shrugged, grinned, and flopped into a nearby seat. She began pulling the needed materials out of her bag, and sang under her breath. Her eyes occasionally flicked to the...Roxas. It was too quiet in this room.

Tyra managed to come in minutes after Juhi. Sitting down Tyra quickly glanced around the room in search of Prof. Faust, but couldn't find anyone but a ruddy bird in his usual place. Moments later she read the board and murmured, "Oh -- right then," and got out the usual, while taking the seat next to Juhi.
"Ey' Juhi! We may just be the only ones in class today. What do you say we partner up together and just get the assignment over with now?"

In partners or individually, come up with three uses of the stunning charm and three faults.

P.S. Try not to hex each other instead.
