The absence of Faust was anything but reassuring for Beatrice, who was late as usual and slumped into her desk well after everyone else had entered. She took her time pulling her books out, nervously eyeing Roxas with every few movements.

"Jaci," She hissed after finally getting set up, "He likes you - did the professor tell you what he's doing today? He's not going to show up and test us, is he?"

Jaci herself had been on time, even a little bit early, practically skipping into the Defence classroom, her schoolbag bouncing lightly against her back with each and every step. Her hair wasn't in her customary plaits, for once, but instead was pulled away from her face with a simple gray band that matched her skirt and allowing it to bounce around her face when she turned her head and looked around the room.

Roxas had intrigued her the instant she spotted him, but she wasn’t easily bothered by creatures, particularly if he’d been left by their teacher. Instead, she just read the board and moved on to her usual seat near the front of the room. Without waiting, she’d pulled out a fresh sheet of parchment and set up her quill and ink well. “Easy as pie,” she muttered to herself, getting to work on her own paper, despite the fact that the professor wasn’t there.

“How should I know?” she whispered back in Bea’s direction and shook her head. “S’not like he was here when I got here either. He might, though. Another oral quiz, who knows

As one of Ana's favorite classes (favorite because she actually did quite well in it), Ana actually entered with a pleasant smile on her face. It, of course, did not last very long as she noticed she was the only Slytherin to have arrived and the other two were chatting amongst themselves.

She took her seat, glanced at the board, and sighed. It looked like there would be no hands-on applications today, just book-work which she abhorred. But as the subject wasn't too boring, she pulled out her book, quill, and ink pot, and started to work.

Mairead walked through the door of the classroom as quietly as she could without disturbing the other students. Her hair was pulled back into an intriquite 5 stranded plait that swung to and fro as she walked. She slipped her satchel on the ground as she slipped into an open seat near Jaci and Bea. She smiled at both Jaci and Bea. "Hi!" she whispered.

Mairy looked at the instructions on the board and her smile faltered. She bent down towards her satchel and rummaged through it. A fairly clean piece of parchment minus a few rumples in the corner and a quill emerged with her hand. She smoothed down her parchment and started to scribble "Dark Creatures" at the top.

As usual, Jaci was working at a pretty quick pace, finishing off the first question before most of the other students had even begun their own work. It wasn't a big surprise, really, since she put a bit more time into studying for Defence than for any of her other classes, save Potions. She was more likely to need it than transfiguration after all.

"Hi!" she whispered back in Mairy's direction, giving her housemate a wave with the purple quill she held loosely in her hand. "Easy assignment, I think. We know all of this, right?" Her gaze shifted to the front of the room and the creature settled there to indicate that she probably shouldn't say much more.

Mairy twirled the quill between her fingers after writing a few lines on the first question. She was taking her time trying to make it look nice while working quickly enough to complete the assignment in the amount of time slotted. She finished a paragraph before she glanced up at Jaci. "Yup. I think I remember most of this stuff." She stole a quick glance at the creature up front and gave a little shudder before quickly returning to her parchment.

Pausing to scratch at her head, careful enough to not disturb her plait too much, Mairy looked at the board once more. 'What should I look out for when confronting a Boguy?' she murmured to herself before returning to her parchment to scribble what she could remember.

Jaci grinned at Mairy's involuntary shudder when she lookd up at Roxas. Sure, the creature was a little... odd, but kind of cute in a creepy sort of way. She wrinkled her nose at the other girl and then turned her attention back to her own parchment. Scratching out what she remembered about the next creature on the list.

She paused in her writing, lifting her eyes toward the ceiling while she gathered her thoughts.

Satisfied with her answer to the first question, Mairy draws a "2" careful to not be too elaborate on it before writing Pogrebins in semi-fancy lettering. She twirled her quill again careful not to splash any ink on her parchment. This was an indication of what she does when she tries to remember what she's learned. As if a lightbulb turned on in her head, she started scribbling about Pogrebins being from Russia.

Her lips moved in a fairly coherent sentence as if trying to force her thoughts on paper as quickly as she has formed them. Pausing every now and again to re-ink her quill, Mairy quickly finished writing the paragraph.

Jaci bobbed her head a little as she studied the ceiling, likely repeating in her head the information she'd most recently read about pogrebins. This went on for several minutes, one nod even causing her hair to bounce enough to loosen the band holding her hair away from her face. Without thinking, she lifted one hand and adjusted it the band, and then got back to work.

Scratch. Scratch scratch. Dip. Clink. Scratch scratch scratch. It didn't take long for her to finish writing about the second dark creature once she'd taken the time to gather all of the necessary information in her head. Satisfied that the two paragraphs she'd written was enough, she moved on to the next question.

"Doxies. Oh!" she grinned and continued writing without bothering to pause this time.

Mairy barely scraped two paragraphs together on the Pogrebins before starting on the third question. She puffed air out of her lips in frustration knowing that her paragraph on Pogrebins was not her best. She shuffled her parchment around trying hard not to disturb the other students. She stared at the board while twirling the quill yet again.

"Hmmm." 3. Doxies. She wrote taking time to add some dramatic curls on the x before continuing. Infestious monstrous horribly annoying pest that lives in the drapes. Best to use Doxycide on them. she paused rubbing her hand absentmindedly where one of those creatures had bitten her with their sharp fangs. "Stupid git" she exclaimed under her breath.
