Well I came in to work today late, at 9:30, and then Haiyan came in late, so I didn't start working until 9:40, unfortunately. Luckily I still managed to leave a 5 pm today. Dragana was not in, as she is in Ottawa this weekend; she is also taking part of next week off.

Today was pretty nice outside, though I spent most of my day in the lab, working on my DGGE gels and trying to make archae DNA replicate using the PCR machine. Haiyan just received 3 new primers in the mail, but we're waiting on the fourth before we can go through both PCRs. Today was a little more fun than usual, since Haiyan was just there for the morning and gave me all afternoon to finish what tasks he assigned to me. It wasn't much, just PCR, running an agarose gel, 3 small soil samples to sort, and transferring the DNA product into 1.5 ml tubes and freezing those. At work today, Haiyan came in late because he was doing his driver's licence test, which he failed, so he got me to help Kate with her DGGE, Denaturing Gradient Gel Electrophoresis. I had a great day so far. Yesterday night I made dinner for Livia (shrimp and tomatoes on spaghetti, and for dessert cranberry and banana muffins, vanilla and pear yogurt and nectarines and frozen bananas). I also gave her a present for her 19th birthday, which was last week.

I am living in Kingston this summer. The house I am living in is on Brock street, and it's very noisy as I'm right beside the street. My room is on the ground floor, which I like because I can say hello to people as they come and leave. It's close to the large kitchen, but our house in fact has 3 kitchens (one for every floor).
