On the bus this morning, I saw a sticker stating that there were cameras and MICROPHONES on board! I didn't think they would be allowed to have microphones, but who knows ( Read more... )

I took the new train in to work today (though sometimes I drive) and boy was it ever busy, even at the end of the line "middle of Richmond" stop, where I got on. Much busier than it was in August, not that that's any surprise.

I'm sorry the improvements haven't improved things for you. I do think TransLink is being a bit short-sighted about the volume of traffic up Granville Street.

In August, the express buses from Steveston and Garden City Rd and other locations were still running, as was the 98 B-Line bus. People were still taking the bus routes that were most convenient for them.

I suppose I should admit that I do take the train home and my commute is much faster than before. However, because the train is always full by the time it gets to my stop, I never get a seat. Good thing it is a faster commute!

The train is brilliantly fast, it's true. 20 minutes or less from Broadway to Brighouse. Do you walk the rest of the way, Cambie to Granville? (You haven't moved house while I wasn't watching, have you?)

No, I don't walk the rest of the way. Should, but don't. yet.

I walked TO Cambie one morning and it took me almost half an hour. Definitely not doing that again! But maybe I'll start walking home from Cambie, either this year or in the spring.

WTFH? Microphones and cameras on busses? To stop the terrorists, I suppose. The security/surveillance industry should be down on their knees thanking al Qaeda for making them almost as profitable as health care. grumble.

It wouldn't be to stop terrorists around here, I don't think. Us Canucks seem to be much less focused on all that.

Cameras on the buses I can understand, especially on some routes. Some people do get a little out of control.

It's the microphones that I find to be very intrusive!

Speaking of cameras, there is a CCTV in front of my office building. One of these days I'm going to get arrested for jaywalking because I cross the street in front of that camera all the time!
