[The writing is cramped and spiky, written with such force that the quill blotted on numerous viciously-poked full stops. Here be swirls and scribbles and various doodles; one seems to be some kind of splatter pattern, one is an abstract spiral, and the other is a frog. Well. No. Half a frog. ...Ew.]

Oh wow, totally. The food can be so beautiful, but you mustn't eat it. And with all the people there, it's really too much.

Far too much. [That's some pretty scratched underlining there. He's in a mood.] They don't ever stop talking or rustling or- Merlin help us- chewing. [Because breakfast is never time for chewing.] It's revolting.

You don't have to go to the great hall, you know? During meals, I often go to a courtyard, or count the stairs on a staircase.

No, though I try to move as little as possible in the mornings.

Don't you think it's a little useless to complain about what can't be helped?

Let's see- catharsis; noun (plural, catharses). A release of emotional tension, as after an overwhelming experience, that restores or refreshes the spirit.

No, I don't think it's useless.

Complaint: noun. Very irritating; synonym: students.

Try not eating in the dining hall.

Mine was copied from a dictionary. I don't see a contest.

And I don't. It's just the closest for tea and newspapers. [And doesn't involve much movement. Hurray.]

You are perfectly welcome to enjoy your meals outside the Great Hall. I'm sure the Headmaster wouldn't mind.

No, it's best for tea. [Because he hates making it for himself.] And newspapers, for that matter.

I'm sure those things can be provided for you. And owls aren't programmed to arrive only to the Great Hall in the morning.

Lord know I've spent more than enough time in my office enjoying a solitary meal, but when there is work to be done, sacrifices have to be made.

I'm sure it's just marvellous for those with their own space, but unfortunately the dorm/common room system leaves room for very little of that.

[Sherlock's writing's getting progressively messier, full of lazy flicks and scribbles. If writing could look bored...]

Oh, I dunno, I think all the chatter makes it very homey feeling!

I am glad someone else agrees that the Hall is far too noisy.

It's headache-inducing, really.

Yes. I do not want to hear everyone's secrets and thoughts when I am trying to eat.

Especially when people think and say such dull, disgusting, trivial little things.
