A/N: Apparently when I'm mopey and depressed, I write Sam/Cas.  This isn't mopey or depressing, but...it's Sam and Cas, the children of Emo Land, so it's at least quiet and thoughtful and extremely random.  Just wanted to share it.

I really love Cas/Sam! I mean it! Cas/Dean always felt easier to write, because they know one another a bit better, but Dean is such a fucker and Sam is so much better. And Sam/Cas is gradual and a bit clumsy, which makes it better than Dean/Cas ever will be. (Of course I ship Wincestial UST when it comes down to it, but if I had to pick, I go with Cas/Sam!)

They're beautiful here, bb! Sam is so sweet and innocent while still world-weary. He's such a battered little idealist. And Cas is such a sweet little shadow here. He's there, and his presence is huge, but it's still background, even though he's clearly important. Somehow Sam still seems like the complete focus even though he's not really.

Anyway, I love this! <3 *squishes*

You know, there's just something about Sam/Cas that makes so much more sense than Dean/Cas. Dean/Cas almost seems too easy. Sam and Cas have to work for what they've got, and that makes it so much more worthwhile. Sam feels so so young next to Cas, but they're both more alike on a deeper level and than Dean and Cas are. I don't feel like Dean can connect spiritually and emotionally with Cas the way Sam can. I don't know. They just make sense *shrug*.
