How to run hidejournal 0.3. (Slanted towards Windows users)

Make sure you're not using tags.

Because HideJournal was written before the introduction of tags to LiveJournal, it will strip tags from entries. You should expect to have to back them up and restore them by hand if you want to use the current release of HideJournal.
Download java

HideJournal requires java. You will need to download and install it ( Read more... )

It seems your site is down, right when I wanted to use it too! Haha, well, hope everything is okay on your part.

Awesome, thanks a lot...I was trying to see last night if another site maybe kept a download of it, and no one did.

I've used your program in the past and it's awesome, good job.

I have the same problem as momgoddess, it just doesn't do anything at all! I've hidden my two other journals (side-journals, nothing very important there) without a hitch, and the very moment that I click RUN, I get to see each entry being hidden...
but for my merryjest account, where I have the core of all my posts, it just bloody stalls, and nothing ever happens. What's going on? O_O

I released a new version which has much faster code for downloading all the entries, so you might want to try that. It's at the same place: http://james.is.never.wrong.nu/code/hidejournal/

Ok! I tried it and this time something DID happen!

I got the message

"Couldn't use the network connection! You might want to try again later."

I'll try later :P

I still have the same problem - it just stalls. is there a newer version than 0.3.1?

question before i run this - can you go back and seperately make posts public again? say, fics that are linked in memories for example? or is this a once-done thing - that all previous entries are permanently on friends-only?

There is no way to mark posts as "don't touch", but of course there's nothing to stop you making them public after they've been hidden.

If I have both public and private (only visible to *me*) entries, will the private entries become friends-only or will they remain private?

Just wanted to check before I try the program.
Thanks!

Your public entries will become friends-only; your private entries will remain private.
