Oh, the unexpected delights of remusxsirius. This Remus and Sirius comic makes me laugh (James even has hiddendaze-sanctioned superhero hair, hee hee). I'm ready to fangirl over this Remus.

It was very hot today but my weird cold-thing refuses to get better so I didn't venture down the stairs or out of doors in classic precious flowerinvalid fashion. Instead I read ( Read more... )

Oh, so you're consumptive? Gawd, how glam. dragonchariot and I, fetishists for all things Victoriana, call this Ruby Gillis disease, after the Anne of Green Gables character who succumbs to it. In the books, not the movies. In the movies they never touch upon Ruby's bout of the TK.

You need a white tea dress. And for God sakes, put DOWN the Cruise.

I am totally consumptive ... and no visitors have come to call and I sway romantically when I sit up and no doubt I will become deceptively rosy of cheek just before I pass over. Gahd, consumption is *so* much more glam than tuberculosis. actually it's an ear-throat clogged pain-thing. Not so glam, but very ambiguous. With fevers!

I so wanted to live on PEI when I was a gal.

Now I think that is a tad unfair coming from you. Cast not the first stone ...

"Now I think that is a tad unfair coming from you. Cast not the first stone ..."

I was thinking about this the other day when Staying Alive- yes, that Staying Alive, the sequel to Saturday Night Fever as interpretted by director Sylvester Stallone- came on tv. Anyway, it had John Travolta, another Scientologist in it, who was originally supposed to play Lestat when IwtV was first sold to the movie studios way, way back in the late 70s. As I watched Travolta dance in leotard and artfully shredded barbarian boots, I was overwhelmed by the sweaty stench of le queer. I kept thinking, what is it about this ambiguously gay vampire and his appeal to closeted cult members? Cause IIRC, Tommy Tooth wanted the Lestat role, and wanted it quite badly.

I'd bet you'd make a deeevine consumptive. Play-acting diseases, with carafs of absinthe on the nightstand; really, now there's a cult I could fall in with.

Hang on - Stallone directed Staying Alive? Wow, his talents know no bounds (note: have not actually seen it).

what is it about this ambiguously gay vampire and his appeal to closeted cult members?
Umm, let it not be said that scientology is not open in some respects? And le queer - if there is not a magazine with this title there should be.

I think you'd make a better consumptive. No wait, you could be the bosom friend who keeps silent vigil and then faints upon hearing the worst. "I'm feeling a bit queer" - it's a shame that phrase is out of circulation. It's perfect for the dramatic faint (feint?), especially those favoured by grande dame types.

How are you? Tell me about New York and Paris :)
