Initial impressions of the Peacemaker Kurogane anime, having just watched the first episode.

1. What is with all the electric guitars? Seriously, I know they're popular in the more extreme forms of shounen anime, but I just...don't think it works here. I don't know why, Toonami did an English version opening for Rurouni Kenshin forever and a day ago ( Read more... )

1. The anime is ooooold, which might explain the guitars.

2. Yes, there is an explanation - it's a flashforward to the end of the series sort of. The series itself is a flashback (kind of) which brings us up to the Ikedaya Incident, the most famous of the Shinsengumi operations.

3. Tetsunosuke. ^^; Tatsu is his older brother.

4. /sob I'm always surprised when people can pick him out so quickly.

9. In the Japanese version, he's voiced by a woman - Saiga Mitsuki (Mitsuki Saiga: Western order). She's well known for voicing feminine men or masculine women and her singing voice is actually extremely low. Enough that she has a rock band and people kind of forget that the lead vocal is a woman.

1. It might, actually. Less CGI generation, more instruments, so they had to make do or something.

3. Ah. Whoops XD. Yeah, that's...probably going to be a mistake I make a lot. Tatsnosuke just seems like the more ordinary between the two names.

4. I have practice. And it really depends on icon choice. But I was prepared for them to go the "Zoisite is a Man in Japan" route before I actually heard him speak.

9. Weird. I'm used to the feminine guys being voiced by guys in Japan and girls in America. I mean, I know it happens the same way sometimes, but it seemed more common to me? I don't know. It's awesome that she has a rock band, though ^-^. I hope it did/does well.

I always enjoy reading interviews from voice actors who play outside their gender. A lot of times, they have some really interesting stuff to say about it. An old magazine I used to subscribe to was really good about interviewing the VAs when new animes came out.

Wait...there's a Saito in this show, too? Or were you referring to the Saito in Rurouni Kenshin?

Yep! There's a Saito in this show too~ I think it's because he's one of the few historically known Shinsengumi or something.

Wow, it has been...forever since I watched Rurouni Kenshin. I don't remember there being references to the Shisneungumi at all. Ofcourse, I never saw all the episodes and I was watching the English version. Maybe that's why.
