Initial impressions of the Peacemaker Kurogane anime, having just watched the first episode.
1. What is with all the electric guitars? Seriously, I know they're popular in the more extreme forms of shounen anime, but I just...don't think it works here. I don't know why, Toonami did an English version opening for Rurouni Kenshin forever and a day ago

2. Yes, there is an explanation - it's a flashforward to the end of the series sort of. The series itself is a flashback (kind of) which brings us up to the Ikedaya Incident, the most famous of the Shinsengumi operations.
3. Tetsunosuke. ^^; Tatsu is his older brother.
4. /sob I'm always surprised when people can pick him out so quickly.
9. In the Japanese version, he's voiced by a woman - Saiga Mitsuki (Mitsuki Saiga: Western order). She's well known for voicing feminine men or masculine women and her singing voice is actually extremely low. Enough that she has a rock band and people kind of forget that the lead vocal is a woman.

9. Weird. I'm used to the feminine guys being voiced by guys in Japan and girls in America. I mean, I know it happens the same way sometimes, but it seemed more common to me? I don't know. It's awesome that she has a rock band, though ^-^. I hope it did/does well.
I always enjoy reading interviews from voice actors who play outside their gender. A lot of times, they have some really interesting stuff to say about it. An old magazine I used to subscribe to was really good about interviewing the VAs when new animes came out.
