In Memoriam

Boog's service was Friday evening. There was so much hustle and bustle leading up to it that I just didn't know what end was up. My dad ended up in the Emergency Room that morning with some weird rash that covered his body. He wasn't allowed to go to the service in the event that he was contagious -- so far, so good on that count -- so I was ( Read more... )

Doing the best I can, and trying to follow my PJ's living example of the Serenity prayerto accept the things I cannot change, to have the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference, especially when it comes down to the little things that in the end really don't make all that much of a difference.

It sounds like the service was positive and uplifting. I think laughing and smiling at funerals is perfect--a celebration of the joy of being able to know a person while they were here, and being thankful to God for loaning him to us for awhile. I'm glad. *hugs*

Laughter is the best medicine for an aching soul as it is, and I know that many were uplifted thanks to the stories his friends shared about him. I know that had it been a service for someone else and Boog had been there with me, he would've said something along the lines of, "Now that's how I would've wanted to be remembered."

Thanks, Fels. It really was. I was able to sleep peacefully that night for the first time in a long time.

Reading this told me more about Boog than I'd known before, but also emphasized things that I already knew about him. PJ's words were so sweet. Thank you for sharing this and sharing Boog with us, Ipo. ♥

Thanks for wanting to know him, Steph. ♥

PJ really has handled this better than many considering he was her surrogate father for most of the year. I'm trying to follow her example.

I'm glad the service went so well and that everyone who loved Boog was able to attend. Your words were poinant and funny and make me miss a man I never knew but through you.

*hugs*

Thanks, Lar. I know the service on June 6th when we spread his ashes will be the one where the majority of his family shows up at, and most of our friends who were there with us from day one, so that one will probably be another reunion / reminiscing time. I'm sure I'll blog about that, too. :-)
