A beautiful poem written about my favorite character! Oh, Noe, you are the best.

“every dog is barking
every house is mourning

and you are
a coward
a survivor

the crossfire got you
what else was there to do?”
I LOVE the rhythm right here. It’s quick, just like a running/scampering rat. And the survivor-crossfire rhyme highlights how it was the situation that made a monster out of Pettigrew - it drew out the absolute worst in him.

And the TITLE is beautiful. It really gets to the heart of what drives Pettigrew. I’ve never seen him summed up in one sentence before, but that’s the one.

This made me so glad to read. Thank you for writing this and for really getting Pettigrew.

Aww, Jon ♥ Thank you! I know how much you love Pettigrew (and I will always remember how he helped me into tricking you to friend me xD), and whenever I write from a character's pov I try to understand them a bit better. So I asked myself, what kind of person does this? And the answer was someone, any creature, that wants to survive.

Wrenching, sympathetic, and brilliant. You’ve made Peter so human here, and his pain is unspeakable (and perhaps all too common in human history).

I admit I'm completely dense when it comes to poetry, but this one was interesting. Very cool way to see Peter through his own eyes after that night.
