Fic:Two Boys, PG [Challenge #26]
Title: Two Boys
Summary: The Whomping Willow observes two boys.

It was a cold night in November and above me I saw the moon shining bright, it was a full moon tonight. I groaned, my branches creaking in the biting wind. Full moon, that little hooligans would be out and about tonight...pushing on me and bothering me.
Every month without fail those little bastards came. Sometimes they would already be animals and sometimes they would transform right in front of me! Funny trick that, they thought it was brilliant. The little one who turned into a rat, he'd come up and push on me. He would scratch my trunk until he found the right spot to still me. I couldn't swing at them once he pushed that little knot, the brat. I was supposed to be protecting their little friend and there they go just messing about to get past me! They always broke the bloody rules, those three. I wish I could transfigure them into rocks.
They would sneak past once I stilled and make their way into the shack behind me, back to their dangerous monster friend. He was a werewolf, I could tell one a mile away. They howled something awful when they ripped themselves apart, those werewolves. But this one...he didn't seem to do that so much once his friends started joining him. Sometimes it wasn't all of them that came...I imagine the others got caught up in detention. They were always harassing other students. Especially that one boy with the green tie they disliked so much.
No matter who wasn't there, the one boy always came. I often wondered how he always made it because he seemed to cause the most trouble wherever he went. But, every month the one that turned into a big, black dog would be there to keep his werewolf friend company. Every month, without fail. I would have been touched if it had been me, the boy probably made an effort to be there. Sometimes when just the big, black dog came to keep his friend company I heard some very odd sounds. I even heard sounds coming from the shack after the moon had set and the werewolf would be a normal boy once again. I couldn't tell you what the sounds were, I had never heard such a thing before.
Sometimes the two boys would sneak away from their friends and sit beneath a friend of mine...a friend who didn't have the ability to move and shoo them away from her branches. They would climb her trunk and sit on one of the higher branches together. The taller boy would steal the other's chocolate and sometimes the werewolf boy would push the other from my friend. He always landed on his feet, that boy. And, once, I saw the tall boy watch the other eat some chocolate and he gave him a quick kiss before jumping down and heading inside. I'm not sure why but the werewolf boy stayed up in that tree for a long while, almost hugging his box of chocolates to himself.
