I didn't read it because I don't want to be spoiled. But I did read your last paragraph and it makes me feel pretty good. I hope I feel the same. Less than 15 hours to go!!!

There are some classic parts in there that you will just NEVER forget. I think you'll like it. Just don't focus on the book and what is/might be missing. Go in there with a clear head, only thinking about how happy you're going to be to finally see H/G on screen.

I hate surprises, so I read your whole review! Thanks for highlighting the most important parts! (H/G of course) It sounds adorable.

No problem! I was gonna talk about the entire movie, but that would've taken HOURS to type up. As it was, putting all the highlights down still took about an hour and a half. Ack.

It is adorable. The comedic bits are numerous and scattered all throughout the first half of the movie. I really enjoyed the 'romantic comedy' since of HBP. It kept things a bit light, when we knew everything would turn so dark, so quickly.

Hello!

I just want to ask 3 questions:

1. How did you find Bonnie's portrayal of Ginny? Did you like it?

2. How about her & Dan's chemistry together, is it believable?

3. Disregarding the fact that you have read the book, and trying to see it through a non-readers' eyes, do you think the way they've written (and also portrayed) H/G's relationship on-screen to be believable & endearing (as we find them in the book), that non-readers won't have question/doubt when they see them get married at the end of DH2?

And thanks for posting this review! I read all of it. I don't have the will power to stop myself being spoiled. LOL!

Joy

1. Yes, I did like Bonnie's portrayal of Ginny. Unfortunately, she can't help what lines she is given nor can she help the way she is directed in the movie. But for what she had to work with, I certainly enjoyed her as Ginny. Granted, I wish that Ginny had been able to be a little more brazen in the movie, but I still enjoyed every moment with Ginny.

....#2 to follow.

2. I think Dan and Bonnie's chemistry is believable. Sometimes it can appear to be a little stiff at times, but that's just because of the awkwardness that they're having to play with the characters personality and the build within the movie story line. I enjoyed getting the chance to seem them work together more. The chemistry definitely blossomed more as the movie went on. So, I imagine we'll see it grow even more in the last two movies (depending on how much shippy moments we're given, that is.)

3. To non-readers, I think their relationship will be believable. They did a fairly good job at building it up throughout the beginning of the movie, though I do wish they would've intensified some of the looks and actions to show how strongly that Harry was beginning to feel for Ginny, but given that we aren't in his head, that's really hard to see. But from the start of things, you see this attraction/spark between them and it's easy to see where it might lead to. I'm not sure if they'll be able to quite see the epilogue vision just yet. There is obviously going to have to be some more building in DH1 and DH2, but I doubt that people will be completely shocked. They left it so open at the end of this movie that you knew there wasn't an end to their relationship and that leaves me holding out hope for it.

They did pretty much with what they were given. I've heard some very disappointed H/G people and some were happy (with what they got) Their kiss is more like a peck, really. I'm so sorry about the sunlit days. Instead we get Ron/Lavender. I'm kind of sorry there wasn't more Ginny playing Quidditch

As I said, I do wish there had been more book H/G, but they did well with what they had to work with. I definitely wish that there had been more 'brazen Ginny' shown, but I will say that I am not disappointed by the movie for the simple fact that we've all been waiting so long for this. Everything is finally here. And despite the fact their kiss was just a soft quick one compared to the Harry and Cho kiss, it still worked with the way the movie went. I definitely wanted the Quidditch kiss for H/G as it is in the book, but it just wouldn't have really worked the way that the entire thing was set up. Now, had parts of the movie gone in slightly different directions, I believe they could've pulled it off. But alas, we didn't have, we've known we weren't gonna have it for a while. And after everything, I guess I've just come to deal with it and find happiness with what we were given, if that makes sense.

One complaint I read was that the H/Hr angle continues to be there. That comment about Ginny "attractive" Bonnie is beautiful woman in real life. In the films she is dressed down as "mousy" One reviewer called her a plain jane. I thought it was to promote the heroine of the novels (Hermoine) who in the films is a hot blonde. There is a contrast between them. The book Ginny is attractive while Hermoine has bushy hair, big teeth, etc. The constant pairing of Harry/Hermione (She has to hug him every film) and her taking lines that belonged to other characters in the book, is annoying.

Well, there is no question that the H/Hr shippers should be put to rest in this movie. It's all about H/G and R/Hr. That's not to say that there aren't still plenty of Harry and Hermione moments together, but they BOTH mention in the film, more than once that they are only best friends and that there is nothing more. You can tell that the relationship between the two of them is nothing more than a brotherly/sisterly relationship.

I won't deny the whole Ginny is played down thing, and Hermione is played up. It's true. But I've come to not care what reviewers and critics say anymore. I've been around this stuff long enough to know that I only care what I want to care about, not what someone else thinks.

Thank you for the recap...I don't mind being spoiled. I am usually impatient for details. I still look forward to seeing the film and finally seeing Harry/Ginny stuff!

You're very welcome. I intend to go and see it again at midnight with a couple other friends of mine. It's always nice to see it a second time around where you're not overwhelmed by taking everything in. Now, I can just sit back, relax and indulge myself in all the little moments too.
