airgonaut is downright inspirational sometimes. (Well, honestly, a lot of the time, because when I think of all the posts on my friends list that make me think, "gee, that's awesome and it makes me want to better myself, too," she's behind a significant number of them.) And after she posted her list for mission101, I decided it would be to my own benefit to stop ( Read more... )

1) Learn how to drive

OMG I NEED TO DO THAT TOO! D: I feel so utterly useless and pathetic about it. ;o; I'm ... happy to know I'm not alone in my oldness.

2) Learn how to bike

I kinda learned this one.

XD YOU ARE AWESOME IRIS. I love making lists myself and now you inspire me to actually do it. .... when I will later. XDDDD

HOMG BUT YOU KNOW HOW TO COOK. AND BAKE. AND STUFF. @_@ ::is useless:: I mean, I can SURVIVE like, FRY STUFF THAT ISN'T 2 INGREDIENTS AND NOT BURN ANYTHING BUT YEAH. (I can't understand people who don't know how to boil water or not know how to make simple things like bacon and eggs)

44. Read the Bible, start to finish, so it can never be said that I didn't give it an honest shot.

Professional recommendations: Avoid KJV (King James Version) like the plague. Please. For me. (okay, that comes off less professional)

There are a ton of translations available, but you honestly should go for something that you will actually enjoy reading. (or at the very least dislike reading less) There's no perfect translation, and there are a ton of fairly good ones, and so I'll point out a couple of the ones to watch out for.

The ESV: Sponcered by the American religious right in an effort to get a modern translation that is highly literal. They succeeded. It's a solid translation, with little paraphrasing, and made as literal as they could manage without sacrificing readability. The only reason I can in all honesty recommend this translation to you is the Literary Study Bible. WHY they decided to use a hardline translation for a literary examination that would be better inside a looser-yet-conveying translation I still can't wrap ( ... )

I already own one, since I figured it was something I'd at least want on my bookshelf for literary purposes (before I realized that the English major and I were just...not quite meant to be), but I can't for the life of me remember which translation it is.

Oh, well, then that's probably the best to go with since even the cheap ones are upwards of $12, and good ones are in the $40 range. :D;

I admit I've never really tried, but I have trouble believing that you can live in America and not be able to get a free Bible somehow.

19. Cut soda out of my daily diet (for real this time).

It is difficult. DIFFICULT. Good luck. ;_;

(I did that a while ago, and I still get HORRIBLE CRAVINGS every time I see soda. Damn you, soda.)
