As for the other things, well. I have entirely no explanation, other than 'it's fandom'. It seems to be the only legitmate reason.
You are right, however, about Voldemort and Delirium. It frankly worries me, what those two would be like together at the moment.

Delirium's actually not quite so bad once you get her to settle down for long enough to carry on a conversation. I've actually gotten her to stay on the same subject for a full seven or eight comments!
