MALFOY FOR MINISTER OF MAGIC

Mr. Lucius  Malfoy (30)  today announced his intentions to stand for Minister of Magic in the upcoming elections to journalists and associated members of the press. Mr. Malfoy, a career politician said his campaign would be one of 'back to basics', stating  "It is time to get back to basics: to self-discipline and respect for the law".

Mr. Malfoy described himself as 'moralistic' and 'ethical', saying he appealed to an often ignored majority of wizarding Britain who cared about 'family values'. Mr. Malfoy has been a high profile participant in many of the Ministry’s essential Commities as well as  holding a position on the board of St. Mungo's hospital and is a member of the governing body of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He is also a stockholder in the Daily Prophet newspaper,  the Wizarding Wireless Network and owner of Pegasus Media, publishing house of many popular magazines, including Witch Weekly.
Mr. Malfoy is described as a devoted family man by friends and as an upstanding citizen by other members of the Ministry. His wife, Narcissa Malfoy Nee Black was described as being delighted by his choice to stand.

The other candidatates for the highest position in Wizarding society seemed taken aback when asked to comment on Mr Malfoy’s decision to stand, the accouncement coming at the last moment with very little previous indication of his intent, however, sources close to the Malfoys have suggested Mr Malfoy has been planning his campaign for quite some time with the support of friends and his wife, as well as several hired advisors.

Political commentators have put Mr Malfoy within the top five candidates, although while in this early stage of the election race it is impossible to predict popular opinion.

CURE BRINGS NEW HOPE

The disease, which renders the suffer unable to control their magic when in moments of extreme emotional stress was believed to be caused by genetics, but a study over the last thirty years has shown that a more likely cause is exposure to magical radiation from back-firing spells.
