Rabastan Lestrange, Letter, July 2nd 1978

Apr 15, 2007 17:00

Name: Rabastan Lestrange
Date: July 2nd 1978
Format: Letter
Relevance: A letter found among the remaining correspondence of Mr. Regulus Black on his death in August, 1980. Give the close date of the letter it has been hypothesized that both the writer and Mr. Black were involved in the abduction of one Mr. James Potter which took place on June 30th, 1978. Mr. Lestrange was later revealed to be a Death Eater engaged primarily in torture [See Case File for the 8th of December, 1981 and the attack on the Longbottoms].

Dearest (nearly-cousin) Regulus,

I thought you might be interested in my newest acquisition. Very well bred and a fine lineage but unfortunately the line went to seed a few generations back and this newest pup is stubborn and rather arrogant, but nothing a few smacks of a rolled up newspaper shouldn’t fix.

I know how much you admire the physique of the breed and how much you enjoy the training. I’ve sent you the addresses. It's attached to this letter but I'd be most obliged if you didn't put it near anything you valued too much. I have spelled it so it will catch fire after it's read. So, please, make sure to memorize it quickly.

Here's to hoping you'll be able to come and see me and my new pet.

Au revoir,
Rabastan

[Extensive search was made for the address, which was assumed to be a Death Eater safe house where victims were taken, most never to be seen again. However, the address was never discovered and it appears that it was destroyed.]
