As an indexer, it's frustrating to hear time after time how all the indexes are old and out of date ( ... )

I do like the system you set up for Indexing and I think the Mods should use that. It is annoying when there's two indexes for one thing and one's outdated while the other isn't.

But I'm confused about the tag thing. I have two indexes I'm doing for the Kink Meme on Delicious and I'm not sure what you mean about a universal tag.

(I would rather have the Part indexes finished...)

Sorry, what I meant by "universal" was one tag that we all agree to add to every link in our indexes. Like right now, I tag every link with "hetalia" so that way someone searching Delicious for "hetalia" would get my links in their results.

So, if we all added "aph_kinkmeme" (for example) as a tag in addition to our regular tags, then anons could search Delicious for "aph_kinkmeme" and get all of our links in their search results.

(hopes this makes more sense) :)

I like your system. I asked the Mods in the meme about updating the list and they told me they already have a system: putting the asterisk. Personally I think your idea is better.

I'm not sure I get the tag thing, though.

Thanks :) I understand why they don't want to delete the old lists, I just don't see the value in grouping the current and abandoned lists altogether.

I tried to explain the tag thing in a comment to the above anon, so hopefully I make more sense there :D

ayrt

I completely agree.

Thank you for explaining the tag thing. I think it would be a good idea and I'm willing to implement it in my index. Maybe you should make an specific post here to check with other indexers?

I agree that indexes should be checked more often, and separating into active and non-active seems like the logical next step, but I don't think that the separation is necessary. It would just look neater and be less frustrating to newbies who didn't read that the asterisk meant the index hasn't updated recently.

As an indexer, I think the universal tag could be very useful, although I haven't made delicious indexes for all of my indexes yet, since there are so few requests/fills for one particular pairing, and I don't want to go through that trouble for only 20 total fills.

I don't know how useful the universal tag would be for anons right now, since it sounds like a good chunk of fans are not technologically savvy, but if we keep pimping it out and explaining it, I'm sure it can become very useful. Just my two cents.
