Re: [Questions, Comments, Complaints, etc.]nice_babanaOctober 1 2010, 22:38:03 UTC
This is a valid concern, but I don't believe there's a way to tell how long a person has been a member of a community other than just taking their word for it. Would you like me to have all the candidates state how long they've been a member of the comm?
Well from the last post I realise a few people weren't too keen on my nomination but I'm going to do it anyway. Hopefully I can clear up any doubts
( ... )
No worries! I honestly couldn't remember so I went back and tried to find the first comment I left to get a general idea.
I know I found this community through the community you were in the friendly competition with, so I believe I first joined around late July or the very beginning of August as a result. It looks like the first post I decided to participate in was this one from early August, so I can at least confirm that much.
1) GMT -8 (west coast/Pacific time). 2) With very few exceptions, I'm on livejournal every day, and on the rare days I'm not, I'm still checking my email, so I can always be on top of what's going on. I'm in college, so luckily there's never going to be a seven hour block when I'm in class; my schedule is very spread out, with breaks between all my classes. On weekdays I'm online intermittently from 8 am to about 1 am (except on Tuesdays, when I'm up by 7) and on weekends I'm usually up by 10. There's a pretty long span of time when I'm online every day, basically! 3) I know I'm a bit inexperienced in this regard, but I did help create and co-moderate pierwalk, a roleplay, so I do have some experience managing a community of individuals, compromising, making executive decisions etc. I think my strong points for the position of moderator lie more in the field of reasonability, fairness, and willingness to listen to concerns of members, though of course I'd understand if you want someone with more experience ♥ JUST THROWING THIS OUT THERE.
1.) My timezone is GMT 05:00 or Eastern Standard Time
2.) Anytime that I'm not in class, working on a paper, or asleep. Since I have internet access with me where ever I go, whether it is on my phone, the computers at my college/job, or at home, I can do mod duties anywhere there is a signal. I can give you a detailed schedule of my classes and my work schedule, if you want me to.
3.) I've been a member of LJ since 2006 and I'm also familiar with LJ's functions. I've been the sole moderator for two communities for almost a year now and co-mod of one more for just a few months. However, I will admit that I am still a little inexperienced and this would be great learning experience on how to moderate a larger community. I do know that I have little to no room for failure with this so, I will work hard to be a good mod for this community. I'm pretty fair and respectful and will be fair and respectful to the logged in users and the anonymous users of this community.
2. At least once a day, every day, almost always more often. With the exception, of course, of unforeseen internet meltdowns or what have you.
3. I just barely make the six month requirement, I believe- which may disqualify me immediately, I realise. I have no prior moderating experience; however, if the ability to mediate disputes and react in a measured and responsible way counts for anything, I can assure you I'm capable of that. I feel compelled to point out that I'm on both nice_banana and kiokushitakaa's flists. Believe me when I tell you that I strongly disapproved of the latter's recent behaviour and told her as much. I don't believe in favouritism, I have no patience for personal attacks, inflammatory (as in obviously aggressive and triggery) remarks, or trolls, and I try my utmost to be pleasant, friendly and welcoming. I don't bring personal biases or grudges to discussions, and if I was appointed a mod, I would probably stay out of discussions altogether unless I could remain reasonably neutral. I...guess that's it ^^;
