Raivis felt uncomfortably stressed the entire duration of the hug. He wanted to be anywhere else in the world but where he was now. Every second moved by at such a tantalizingly slow rate. But, as scared as he felt during the hug, he was more afraid of what could happen next. A rough hug was hardly the end of his problems. Had his body fully registered what was happening, the thought would be enough to make him cry ( ... )

Raivis wasn’t sure what kind of reaction he had been hoping for. He didn’t think it was ever a good idea to disappoint Ivan, but he hadn’t wanted Ivan to like his room either… Something in between just seemed liked the safest outcome. But he couldn’t help liking to hear something nice about something that was his… The smile that had formed earlier remained as he walked in after the taller student.

“I’m glad you like it,” he said shyly as he stood a little bit away from the Russian. He sank a bit when he realized he didn’t know what to do next… He didn’t have anything for them to do now that they were here. His mind rushed to find some option, but there just wasn’t much to work with. He decided that maybe a little more small talk might keep Ivan from getting bored, which would just lead to him becoming… creative. “S-so… I never asked what your major was…” he attempted.

Ivan sat down on one of the beds, not sure whether it belonged to Raivis or his roommate since the dorms were made for two. Either way he didn't care, and he proceeded to lay back on the bed with his arms out wide, staring up at the ceiling. The sheets were very comfy, so it could keep him at bay for a while.

"So have you met your roommate yet? I have not. I hope whom ever get is fun." With the two of them alone in the room, his mind could easily start to form some ideas. But for now, he was content with simply talking. "Nuclear physics," he answered, "I'm surprised I was able to get into the class, but I like it."

Raivis watched cautiously as Ivan took a seat on his bed and then lay down on it. He didn’t really mind too much, but when he took a seat on his roommates, he felt a little strange. Raivis hadn’t talk to them enough to really feel comfortable sitting where they slept, so he quickly moved to his chair, which was near the front of his bed.

“Uh, not really, they seem to be out a lot,” he commented, noting their stuff. He wondered what kind of person they were. Clearly they kept to themselves or… at least had decided to be outgoing elsewhere. “I wonder how long we can go without seeing each other…” he thought out loud.

“Wow, Ivan, that sounds really amazing. I don’t think I could keep up in a major like that, I’d be too afraid of getting bogged down in all the math,” he said with a smile.

Ivan lifted his head up to watch Raivis make himself comfortable. He realized he was on Raivis's bed after all, but then again he didn't really care. "Out a lot? Well that's odd. I guess they are a very social person or something." He heard Raivis think out loud, and answered him. "You'll have to run into him eventually."

He blushed a bit from the comment. "It is. I really like it though, so that helps encourage me to keep going with it. You are right though, you would be too scared to do it."

Raivis didn’t make eye contact toward Ivan. He was confused enough as it was, actually looking at the older man was certainly not going to help. Instead, he focused his attention a little off, toward the top corner of his bed. It was much easier talking that way. “Y-yeah… must be…” he agreed. “R-right, hopefully soon, it’d be nice to know more about them.”

Raivis didn’t mind Ivan not protesting his claim of being too afraid to do it. He really would be, it was the truth. “Well that’s good. It’s important to chase after your dreams,” he nodded lightly, not sure what else to say about it.

Despite Raivis making no eye contact with him, Ivan still stared at him from the other side, which was probably intense enough for him to sense it. He had a feeling he would get nervous once they were alone anyway. He didn't mind as long as the boy didn't faint on him. "That would be very good, yes? Then you would know why they go out a lot."

Ivan wasn't surprised to hear Raivis say he was afraid to do it, which was why he didn't object. He giggled and sat up on the bed. "This is why I like you so much. You are so... supportive."

Raivis’ head was drawn to look at the other occupant in the room. As much as he didn’t want to meet the taller man’s gaze, he could tell that Ivan was looking at him and his body acted on its own. His violet eyes stared at a pair that matched them too well. “Y-yeah, hopefully they’re nice,” he said, having trouble forming cogent sentences under the circumstances.

“Am I?” he half asked. He was really just more mulling it over. “I-I try my best to be nice… j-just makes everyone’s life easier… you know?” he questioned. He wasn’t sure if he had ever had such a long talk with Ivan before. He was glad that things had stayed so laid back, but he still shook a little, too afraid to really believe it would stay that way.

Ivan held back the urge to smirk once Raivis made eye contact with him, and smiled innocently at him instead. "Well if they ever give you any trouble, you can just come to me, yes? You know I will take care of them if so," he said, half jokingly but also half serious. He never liked the idea of others disturbing what was his.

He nodded. "Of course. You are afraid of what will happen if you make people mad, yes? You were always like that." He stood up from the bed and approached the boy, leaning in so their faces were only a few inches apart. "I guess no one can change completely."

Raivis nodded, not able to lose contact with Ivan’s eyes while he did so. He would be lying if he said that there weren’t times that Ivan had made his life a lot easier in that manner. Being protected felt nice, even if it was from someone who often hurt him anyway. “Y-yeah, I-I will, thank you,” he replied, smiling despite himself.

Raivis wanted to lower his head when Ivan continued to speak the truth. He was afraid of making people mad. He didn’t want to be hurt and there were a lot of ways another person could hurt him if they wanted to. It was just easier doing his best to make them not want to try. His eyes widened as Ivan got closer to him, shivering as their faces became close. He pressed back into the chair, but he was already as far as he could go. “I-I d-dunno… m-maybe…” he trailed off as he began to lose his train of thought.
