USxUK, angst and fluff anonymous June 29 2011, 06:13:38 UTC
Arthur mentioned enduring a broken heart for 100 years during the 2007 Bloodbath. He mentions it again during yet another drunken tirade, but this time Alfred overhears. Hoping for a healthy mix of angst and fluff to ensue.

An odd buzzing noise from the vicinity of his bedside table had France awake in under thirty seconds.  (After centuries of men--and women--barging into his bedroom at all hours of the night to wreak vengeance on their unfaithful spouses--and, by extension, France himself--he'd become somewhat of a light sleeper...)

He opened his eyes just in time to see the light from his vibrating cell phone die out, and wearily reached over to grab it.  He flipped it open, knowing fewer than five people who would bother him at this hour.  Sure enough, a text from Prussia was there, blinking in his inbox.

Guess who England just confessed his undying love to?

That had France immediately bolting fully upright on his bed, phone gripped tightly in his hands and wide blue eyes re-reading the message, just to be sure.  After a moment, he began texting back rapidly.

Qu'est-ce?  Is this true?  Did our favorite cold-hearted Englishman finally stop pining after Etats-Unis and make a move?France sent the text and waited for a reply in nervous excitement, ( ... )

France though for a moment after he sent the text--he was almost positive that the feelings between the two English-speaking nations were reciprocated, and he was, after all, an expert in these things--but England would only admit to it when very drunk and America...well, he never said anything outright, but, then again, the boy had always favored action rather than words...speaking of which...

Just then, Prussia's text came in, asking France the question he'd been about to ask himself.

Wait, so if the kid doesn't think that England's in love with *him*, who DOES he think England loves?....And what will he do to them? XD

France grinned, typing back a reply.

And that is the crux of the situation, no?  I am certain he has no clue, and will bother everyone he suspects until he asks England himself...which gives us plenty of time to have our fun ;)

Kesese....what exactly did you have in mind?

The French nation's grin was positively evil now.

Here is what we need to do...

Oh, this is awesome :) I have to agree with anon above, I just LOVE how you've written America. It's so rare (and nice) to see him written like this. And France and Prussia's bromance is perfection.

Looking forward to more!

A!A this is made of win! And this has to be said before anything else XD
Don't worry, the cold war refernce was clear, I even understood it, but I must confess, I was in a hurry when I wrote the review :P The fact still remains, talking about it as a staring contest was funny :P

About the update, it's full of little epic moments, I so love the small details you use to carachterize every nation! For example, why France is a light sleeper LOL Or the relationship between Prussia and America. I never red a story where this subject was at least hinted. I may have missed it, I don't know, but it was a nice surprise and also so very inspiring, as in now I want to write/read about this topic so badly!

And why I find Prussia and France gossipping via text messages so cute? You tease, you ended the chapter in a crucial moment XD I want to know France's plan! Oh, and I'm also eager for the angst-fluff galore, I know it'll be epic!

Just one more thing, please post the update on the fill list, so we don't miss it, it'd be a shame <3 And people ( ... )

:'D I'm honestly so amazed at all the praise this has been getting...I can't tell that i'm writing any differently than usual, but maybe that just means I'm improving? Or i'm just surrounded by hyper-critical people....yeah...

OK, Good! Obviously, this is unbeta'd, and I sometimes have a tendency to assume the readers know what I was thinking of in my head but not actually write it down ;u; And don't worry--i'm more impressed that you were in a hurry and bothered to write a review at all (and such a nice one, too!)

Anyway, first!anon, I too, have wondered why there is so little Prussia and America interaction in any stories i've read. Personally, I love to write them together, and this is not the only story i'm working on where they do. I mean, their personalities are fairly similar, they've fought with and against each other IRL, AND a lot of people who ship USUKUS also ship PruCan, which should mean they'd be fairly acquainted with each other, and yet, they rarely are, especially in a non-AU setting ( ... )

No need to be impressed A!A, I love leaving reviews when I like a story. What bothers me is seeing amazing stories with just a couple of comments...But I guess this is not the place to discuss this :)
So you mean...You have more Prussia America interaction somewhere? Great! I'll patiently wait for you to de-anon, or if it's on this meme, could you please give me a link? You see? With just an handful of words you made a fanatic out of me XDDD Yes, I'd like writing about them too, but with me not being english mothertongue, it could be really time consuming. Anyway, we'll see...

About your question, PruCan hints...Hell yes :)

BTW this --> "OHEMGEE liek PruCan SUX!!1!! RussPruss and Franada FOH-EH-VAH!" made my day! XD

And this -->i'm actually saving up plot bunnies to do a more historical PruCan story, something along the lines of "The First Time He Heard Him Speak", showing Prussia's brief brushes with Canada up until WWII when they finally meet on the battlefield means now you officially have a stalker :P

England's in love....and somebody broke his heart.

Still staring at the sleeping man in the passenger seat next to him, America suddenly felt a surge of what he might have called nausea, had he not had an iron stomach--so it certainly wasn't anything he ate that was causing it... At any rate, whatever odd feeling was writhing in his gut at this realization was extremely unpleasant, and worse, he didn't understand where it had come from...maybe...wait.

He'd definitely felt this...twisting...in his stomach before...but only a few specific instances stood out. He knew for sure it happened when he saw, felt, his own people being harmed in some way...

....and in 1917 and 1941, during his visits to England.

He's hurt. All this time--hundreds of years, I think he said...he's been hurting. America frowned deeply to himself.

And I didn't have a fucking clue.

After seeing what the Somme...and, the Blitz, oh, he thought he'd never forgive Germany for that one....after seeing what they'd done to Arthur ( ... )

After a few more minutes of quiet contempation, America finally pulled down the long, dirt road that led to England's home in the countryside, just outside of London. He parked behind England's old, well-used Esprit and unbuckled both himself and England, then got out of the car. He moved around to England's side and opened the door, careful not to let the sleeping man tumble out on the ground. After scooping the Englishman up and back over his shouder, he bumped his hip into the door to close it, then walked up to England's front door ( ... )

OMG America, how can you be so clueless? It's very sweet how he's taking care of England and how he's planning on avenging him. The funny thing is, he's basically plotting against himself LOL! I so look forward for him to se the truth! The fangirl in me wishes America didn't go to sleep at the hotel, but since I really like how this story is going on, I'm really not complaining :)
And the dreams...They made me so sad because they're so true >.<

Also I loved the historical hints, as tiny as they are...I'm such a nerd :P And how America was protective over England even back then. You can make my heart ache (in a very good way!) with only a few words, anon <3

Thank you for providing the link to another interesting story, the one on FF.net, I'll definitely give it a try as soon as I've a little time :)
And yes, I always knew Canada was badass! That's why I like him. He only choices to be quiet, but he's so very far from being helpless!

Well now, keep up the good work, Anon!

Sincerely, Your Stalker ;D

Not clueless, just super-repressed and socially awkward XD

@ this: "he's basically plotting against himself" And that m'dear, is what we in the business call "Dramatic Irony" (slightly different than situational irony, cosmic irony, and fate's-being-a-douche-again irony)

And don't worry about England and America sharing a bed... all in due time...

Yes, America tends to ignore/purposely forget unpleasant things when it suits him--like his own heartbreak over England D:

Thank you for all of the lovely stalking praise, First/Stalker!anon! (which name do you prefer, btw?)

Hence forth, the one-day awaited long-awaited comment!

Ahaha this is absolutely adorable ❤ but that little cliffhanger is heartbreaking!

Ohhh America and your obliviousness. I will never, ever get tired of such a dynamic. But I'm hoping the ending is a happy one, though! ❤

You already know my opinion on how the fandom characterises dear England but I think it works here. ❤ (The overt drunkeness, that is.) I'm glad he's sort of tolerable rather than a tsundere ball of crazy.

Your prose is excellent, too. (shame it's not quite as good as Moby Dick, but of course nothing can reach that height of literary excellence, for we are nothing more than mere mortals)

I think, though, that this is my favourite line: He remembered the 70's briefly, and shuddered. HAAAA. I know how he feels.

Nah, I'm kidding, my favourite bit is as follows:

Maybe France....but wait. What if HE's the one who broke his heart? England always acts like he hates him.....but if France broke his heart, wouldn't England love him? Or would he still hate him? GAH. I ( ... )
