It's my first time trying out a new writing style, anons (as you can see, it's a bit more abstract). I hope no one hates me/this fic. Hope
Arthur: Rules to Live By
Yes.
Arthur can watch pedophiles on TV (that sad excuse for american programming, “to catch a predator”), and feel disgusted just like everyone else.
“I couldn’t help myself,” They would whine,
“It wasn’t my fault,”
Psh.
One thing is true, at least. Arthur knows that they (not as in, the large conglomeration, brotherhood? of pedophiles, but rather the few, stupid ones that managed to get caught) really cannot control what they are. Arthur knows because he is one of them.
Arthur Kirkland is sexually attracted to children.
Adolescent boys, to be exact. Between the ages of eight and ten. They have classifications for everything, nowadays. Pedophile used to be an umbrella term, but now there are hebephiles who (for lack of a better word) prey on preteens (11 to 14), ephebophiles who go even older than that (just skirting statutory rape laws) etc. No, Arthur is

This is SOOO good.
I dunno why but the first thing this made me think of was "Dexter." Maybe bc I watch too much tv. But I guess it's the whole main chara with distorted morals that I love....

Eff, anon- thanks for writing one of my favorite pairings! I'm a huge England/Latvia fan, and I will be very eagerly awaiting the update to this. X3
And on a slightly more related note, I used to be friends with a pedophile like Arthur. He was a great guy who never laid a hand on a kid, and eventually bought himself a house way out in the middle of nowhere so he could become a hermit. I'm really glad you're making the distinction between people who are attracted to children and people who actually act on it. It does me and him proud.

Well this is some kind of fucked up deliciousness. Like seriously. I love your written style it's absolutely fabulous and the tone and way you've written Arthur here makes him a sympathetic character. You know from line one I was hooked and to me that's a really big deal, you've drawn me in and I am eagerly awaiting more.

Brief flash of UK/US/Canada and UK/Hong Kong, as OP requested. hahaha...very brief
Rule Number Two: Get Close to No One
Because anyone, really, could find out.
Arthur’s had a couple of close calls. (like once, when an old college friend invited him over and didn’t tell him that her son, beautiful son would be there, and arthur spent the entire time just staring at the boy)
(eliza had never called him back again. women had a sense for these things)
Now, he doesn’t even bother. Other than Francis’ sporadic, naggy phone calls and house visits, Arthur allows himself to go entire months without human contact. Clothes from mail-order catalogues (although he has been taking up sewing, as of late), food from a grocery-delivery place, nearest neighbor a good quarter-mile away.
He’s so used to it, he wonders how others really live with each other. The thought makes him shudder.

Fuck. The aftermath is always the worst. There is one,
The pain that spikes through his thighs and wrist as he stands up, pants shifting and pooling at his ankles. Arthur reaches for a tissue and wipes his hands before two,
The guilt sets in, sets his teeth on edge, makes him cringe at the sudden appearance of his own face in the mirror, flushed and disheveled, eyes speaking-
Oh
It’s his eyes that are dark, dark, now.
When he was younger, and a bit less…now, Arthur used to go out when he felt these aches.
He forced himself away, away from the quiet parts of town, the playgrounds, the swinging porch chairs and warm windows of home. Towards the clatter and shriek of neon streets that go all night long. Hey, he had thick rings on his fingers, dull silver loops through his lip, streaks of bloody pink/green/screamingblue in his hair because he was young. And as wild as his brothers pushed him to be. (although they were nowhere to be found, anymore, this was college

Oh God, Arthur's guilt! I really love your style of writing here. It's so...., I can't even describe it, like I see everything clearly in my head, and hear the tone in Arthur's voice. And awww, his childhood, nooo~ And OMG his fantasies, the NA twins and HK (or at least I figure it's him)~ ....<3 LOL at Francis calling him all excited, and Arthur hanging up when Francis starts speaking french~ Awesome update, and please update soon!

I just become more and more interesting. I am incredibly impressed by your ability to make Arthur almost likable and definitely someone the reader can empathized with, given our cultures view of pedophiles that's pretty amazing. I liked Arthur's fantasies and how they where almost sweet in their own way. I'm starting to feel sorry for Arthur because he's trying so hard to keep himself in check and really deal with his sexual desires in a safe, legal way and I know that late on in the story all his best intentions will probably go to hell.

You know what I love about this fic so far?
How much it echoes Nabokov's Lolita. Vladimir Nabokov had a very good writing pattern when it came to Humbert, his male protagonist.
He would write a bit from Humbert's perspective, about how he loved young girls, and then explain a bit about his life. Before you knew it, you were falling in love with Humbert, feeling pity for him and his life so far. And then, out of nowhere, Nabokov pops up with Humbert noticing something pedophilia related, a "GOTCHA" moment, which jars the reader into remembering, "Oh yeah, he's a sick bastard."
And you write like this, anon. It's beautiful, and I can get caught up in it, feeling strongly for Arthur, until you, with your lovely, lovely timing yell "GOTCHA" and show me part of Arthur's obsession with young boys.

Good gods anon, I haven't felt so drawn into a story for ever so long... Drawn right into a character's spyche. Maybe it's because I can sympathize with him to an extent, but I like to think it's more about the way you write. ^_~

Hope OP hasn't been scared off? Didn't mean for the fic to turn out so strange...it's gonna get even stranger and darker (but also with some smut, fluff, romance) so it's OP's chance to warn me off before I veer into dangerous territory...

AU where England's a pedophile.
He tries to keep it secret, and only masturbates/fantasizes about it.
Latvia finds out somehow, and offers him sex in exchange for money/protection from Russia.

I would also like to compliment your knowledge. Don't know if you specifically searched for certain information, but yay. It's delightful.
Eagerly awaiting more for poor Arthur.
