Everybody had forgotten how France, of all nations, could be scary. Oh, yes, they knew better than to mess with his egocentric kings and powerful armies, but they didn't remember how much he delighted himself with fountains of blood.
"Français, je meurs innocent et je pries Dieu que mon sang ne retombe point sur mon peuple."*
The blade fell, again and again. A spark lighted the Frenchman's eyes. Prussia screamed and the whole continent watched in silence.
"Long live to the king, " England said on his island, but that so called Peuple Souverain did not get the sarcasm in his words. He knew how tempting the ecstasy of liberty and the sweet taste of blood could be. He had lived it, and somehow, he had regretted it. The republic

badass!France, FUCK YEAH. I love this fill. I've always felt kinda bad for Louis XVI, though, and this did it too. Is Prussia screaming because of HRE? (I thought that was later on...after Napoleon). England's sentence and thoughts were excellent! There happened the first modern republic, something people usually forget. I'm amused by the fact that, nonetheless, France will go on to restore the monarchy but that will live less than a century, and will finally become a stable republic, opening the way for Europe to work on something else than kings ^^

Author!Anon is kind of addicted to French History and feels glad that someone enjoys seeing, for once, France being the crazy nation he actually is :).
Prussia's anger is the representation of the Brunswick Manifesto, a letter sent to the people of Paris by the Prussian army commander, the Duke of Brunswick.
After Louis XVI failed attempt to flee the country (I don't know the name in english, but it's called La fuite de Varennes in french), the deputies of the Republic abolished the monarchy and kept the king and his family prisoners in Paris. Since Marie-Antoinette's brother's, Leopold II, was the emperor of Austria, he declared war and formed the first coalition against France, with Prussia. The message of the manifesto was mainly "Do not arm the royal family or we will kill you, your wives and your children". It failed to stop the execution of the king and only made the French more determined to fight against the invaders.

Short but sweet. I love myself some Revolutionary!France, and it's true there's a lack of him on the meme. Actually there's a general lack of serious!Francis, and he's sorely missed - basically the only serious fills I've seen with him involve Jeanne d'Arc, which is all well and good, but you know...
Also, are you French? Your English is really good - as a fellow not-native-speaker, I know how hard it can get). I should go to read the French version, I need to remember your language, I was quite good at it. (Captcha encourages me by mentioning 'tartness Chanel').

(Posting!Fail...)
I usually don't read fics involving Jeanne D'Arc. I don't know, I just don't like her.
Anyway, I'm not French, but I live in Montreal and my native-language is indeed French (or Quebec's French, since Parisians don't understand a word of what I say). I'm very flattered you find my English good. Let's just say my writting compensate for my awful accent...
