"You alright?" he asked as he watched Russia's eyes trail what was obviously a family group with a mom, dad and a little boy and girl, they lingered longest on the girl and America didn't have to guess very hard as to who Russia was thinking about even after all these years

LOL...I wasn't sure about that bit since it felt really cliched but...well it's Hetalia and the author himself has made the joke in canon so I thought why not. ;-) I can see the Japanese being totally unfazed by an event such as this...they're just that awesome.
Yeah I think no matter what differences elsewhere they have they'll always share common ground when it comes to space and everything that goes with it.
I know...it makes me sad that there's not more R/A fluff. I mean I know the epicness of the love/hate relationship between the two countries irl tends to lend itself towards angst but...if done right R/A fluff is some of the best fluff in my mind, it just feels all the more rewarding for the reader and the boys since they probably don't get a chance at it all that often. *sighs*

Post Cold War fluff with these two is really difficult to pull off, but I think Russia was rather in-character in this one. *o* Their competitiveness is just perfect~ And yeah, America, claim that ass prize of yours! XD
Thank you...I'm glad you feel he's in character. I tried very hard not to go over the top with him. He's a hard character to pin down in general and especially in fluff so I think I tried to purposefully underplay him so I'm glad that worked. It will probably become the way I write him in the future I'd rather him seem to normal then make him too over the top crazy.
