For once, Spain didn’t have the luxury of waking up in stages, which was something he very much liked to do. The slow warmth and awareness that normally came to him was always soft and relaxing.
This morning was very different, and not in a pleasant way. The moment he was awake the sunlight didn’t fall across his face so much as slap him through the eyelids. Spain’s hand jolted up to cover his eyes, and he groaned, attempting to understand how in the name of a merciful God the sun could be so bright.
Then he remembered that the curtains had been torn down in his, France, and Prussia’s escapades the previous night. That answered the how, but not the dear Christ, why?Blearily, he realized that it had to have been nearing midday for the sun to have even broken above the trees, and he forced himself upright. Spain flicked his head to the side, displacing his bangs and checking the rest of the bed at the same time. The sheets were barely on the mattress anymore, and the large white coverlet was gone. He was alone

In a decent try for dignity, Spain managed to right himself without seeming overly concerned with the sheet. The briefly casual pose was lessened somewhat when he had to reach down to tighten the wrap before it dipped scandalously low. The fabric was too thin and barely caught on the calluses of his fingers, making it difficult to grip. He supposed that his hips were too narrow to give the damn thing much to hold onto, but he chose to blame the sheet instead
