OP here! Au contraire, anon, this is exactly the sort of thing I'd been hoping for. (I have been just dying to see Alfred/any of his stars/models/pinup girls, especially after having seen this: http://www.metmuseum.org/special/se_event.asp?OccurrenceId=%7BEB2C67EF-1CCB-4EB2-9329-A955A7EDFBC2%7D.) The cult of beauty is so inherently a part of the American DreamTM, and this fandom provides such a fascinating angle to examine stuff like this from. I'm not sure if that's what you'd meant to go for, but if it was, you totally nailed it. Heeeeeeee. Not to mention, it's absolutely lovely, style-wise, too.
