For sweetinaskirtThe Gods truly hated Leonard McCoy. Of this much, he was sure. He was sure that any brief chance of happiness that may come his way, was soon to be trampled on by a pack of hell hounds determined to break him. Even the little things were counteracted with a crock of shit to break his mood once it had become something good. A good drink of ( Read more... )

While Dani would curse her luck and think the universe was against her, deep down inside she must have been a sucker for punishment. Dani entered, seeing him hard at work. No matter what he had done or had failed to do in the past, she felt sorry for him in the here and now. So much responsibility had been placed on his shoulders so quickly, and he was bearing it all, even as more and more work was piled on top of what already existed.

"Sir, I've collected the requests for surgical instruments," she said, staring down at her PADD. "They just need your approval and signature and they can be ordered immediately."

He lifted his head once more when he heard her voice. Lips pursing, he turned his head back downwards, using his work now as an excuse to not look at her once more. He didn't want to have to look at her; he didn't want to have to be near her. As professional as he could be, he was tired, overworked and reaching his limit. "Add them to my pile, Yeoman."
