My Top 20 OTPs of all time!

Jun 11, 2009 04:55

I originally started working on this list years ago (literally years ago), but then I set it aside because my descriptions of each pairing were getting to be ridiculously long, and I was talking about the backstory and facts and all of this annoying stuff which really has nothing to do with why I like certain pairings ( Read more... )

otp, anime, transformers

Jo was cheated out of Laurie AND ALL OF EUROPE.

>:E

And I adored Mulder and Scully. Adored it.

You will never be wanky for BK pairing loves as far as I am concerned.

Dungeons and Dragons: there was a cartoon series that came out in the 80s. It is now available in DVD box set. This is where Eric and Sheila come from!

I was with you on this pairing until I saw the movie with Winona Rider as Jo and Gabriel Byrne as Professor Bhaer, and then I understood Jo/Friedrich with every fibre of my being.

You make me so intrigued by Doumeki/Watanuki (it's so weird - I think I'm bored of yaoi on the one hand, and then on the other hand certain pairings like that one that are DESIGNED to be shipped still really, really do it for me. And that sounds like it could be such a pairing, even if I don't usually go for CLAMP), and you make me want to go ahead and start reading Strangers in Paradise (have you read/watched Nana? That shoujo-ai friendship is less canonical than Francine/Katchoo, but it's still pretty subtexty, and the friendship breakdown they went through has left me devastated to this day. I can't even think about it as one of my fandoms, I find it so upsetting. lol), and! You make me want to post this meme myself. :D :D

I have indeed read Nana. I liked it so much although after the two drifted apart, I kind of drifted away from the manga. One day I will catch up!

And I definitely recommend xxxHolic. I'm not normally a big CLAMP fan either but I love everything about that story. It's so gothic, which makes the stylized CLAMP art work, and the individual stories are rather strong.

POST THE MEME. POST IT!!!

(I bought a few manga anthologies of GTO: The Early Years and started reading them recently. So full of lol!! Too bad I couldn't find the official series but I might end up ordering online XD)

I bought a few manga anthologies of GTO: The Early Years and started reading them recently. That's actually the series he wrote before GTO (even if silly Tokyopop is marketing it as a ~*~prequel~*~), so it's super fun to read it all in order and watch his abilities to draw and to write women progress slowly over time!! Um and if you like slash - oh jeez, just wait till you get to the later volumes (it's all lolzy penis comparisons and adoring traps till Kamata and Eikichi's boyfriends lose their minds in volumes 9 and 10). GTO is a girl-on-girl tacofest, but Shounan Junai Gumi was just all bromance, all the time. Also it really sets the stage for Onizuka as a character in GTO, because in GTO he's sort of a sieve through which everybody else's angst can be poured and turned to gold or something /so bad at metaphors ahah, BASICALLY, he's the main character but he has no visible journey of his own? But in Shounan Junai Gumi his angst is, aside from VIOLENCE IS BAD GET ME AWAY FROM IT, it's all this subtextual MY FRIEND IS STRAIGHT AND I ( ... )

I definitely agree with you on all accounts with Domeki and Watanuki. Its a pairing I love, for many of the same reasons you've given.

I love the idea of Doumeki LUSTING after Watanuki and awkward, flailing, neurotic Watanuki being totally oblivious about it. :)

I enjoyed your list greatly. It was interesting and made me nostalgic for the fantasy novels I used to read in Elementary and Jr. High. D:

3. Raistlin/Caramon (Dragonlance)
OMGYAY. I went through a bit of a DL relapse last summer and was subtly scouring the tiny fandom for EPIC TWINCEST only to find that everyone was all about Raistlin/Dalamar. (I mean, granted that's fair: Dalamar really loves to show off that mark he has on his chest where Raistlin touched him). The core books of the series sort of revolve around the twin's complicated love for each other in one sense or the other, though, so I guess the 'Twins' trilogy is all the hot twincest action we really need.

Although my slash OTP in DL is Palin/Steel. For, y'know, that whole one book they were in together. Consequently, that's incest as well. Ha ha, Dragonlance?I'm also tickled that Raistlin/Crysania made it on this list. Dragonlance isn't exactly a masterfully written series but the relationships are always surprisingly complicated. I always appreciated the fact that ( ... )

"Do not be sad, Sam.You cannot always be torn in two."

W-way to make me sob. ;;;;_;;;;;

I'm glad you enjoyed my list!

re: Raistlin/Dalamar. Always seemed like a one-sided love on Dalamar's part, imho. Raistlin is way to guarded to let Dalamar in by the time they meet. But I do think it would make for some good "you are my toy" sex on Raistlin's part. XD

THE LACK OF EPIC DRAGONLANCE TWINCEST IS A SERIOUS SHAME.
