As soon as the group had separated - tackle-hugs did that very well - 'Berto swooped in and picked his mom up in a giant, super tight, spinning hug. "Hey! Miss me?"
He'd hug his dad in a minute.

"I don't know who you are!" She finally managed, laughing; the spinny hug was totally like the ones Jaime used to give and that was throwing her off balance in more ways than just physically.

And meanwhile she was sending, It's me, Mom. Lena. You look so young! You all do! Which was self-evident, but. You know I'm me, don't you? It would be..unnerving, if her mom didn't know her. But she could feel her Mom's mind against hers-- younger, not as protected, but still way warm and steady and strong.
