Food and games and mingling

There is lots of modable food, and even some that wasn't MEAT+FIRE. And the drinks included beer, if you were of legal drinking age.

There was also a belated birthday cake for Momoko (despite Jaime trying to convince her it was illegal to celebrate a birthday on Independence Day).

The apartment complex already had an area set up for Horseshoes and a small play area for any one who could fit kids. There was a cd player somewhere if anyone wanted music... and yes, there would probably suddenly appear a stash of modable water guns at some point... Just keep them away from the grill.

If Raven was anxious at all about attending a social outing with people she still couldn't remember, she wasn't letting it show. She couldn't help but feel guilty about having no memory of people who clearly cared for her, though she still held on to hope that the knowledge would some day return.

In the meantime, she was determined to enjoy herself, and she'd brought Philia with her as well. The dog still had a few faint pink handprints on her fur due to a visit to an orphanage, finger paints, and a couple of mischievous children, but she didn't mind, though anyone with meat was going to get the saddest of sad eyes as she shamelessly begged for some.

"Hey, Raven," Jaime grinned as he waved from where he stood near the grill. "You made it!"

"Hello, Jaime," Raven said after she fit a name to the face. She'd done her best to study pictures and names to better know who people were. "Thank you for the invitation. How are you?"

Philia was starting in with the sad eyes, wagging her tail. She'd become a lot more at ease around strangers now, especially if they had food.

Evening of Fireworks

Momoko had found a perfect rooftop for fireworks. Those who couldn't fly (poor souls) were driven to the site and then ferried up. There was some modable light refreshment, some soft music, and some blankets.

And then with a giant crack and a boom...

Momoko sat on their blanket and sighed happily, looking over those who had decided to come to the viewing and not so much at the fireworks. "Most perfect holiday ever."

"Even though we almost burned down the apartment complex?" Jaime asked, settling down behind her, arms wrapping around and pulling her back into him.

"You were the one who let me have the tongs; Karla was only trying to help," Momoko chuckled softly, relaxing into him. "Everyone is happy. It feels different when we're hosting in our own place. I can totally get used to this."
