I guess that's what I've found puzzling about your commitment to the liturgical calendar -- why is it so important to you when you aren't yet certain about your commitment to Christ, church membership, etc. (if that's an accurate representation)?

Of course I say that as someone who never really "got" the church year and am content to identify with a tradition that is at best neutral toward the whole thing.

I think partly it's really easy for me to develop strong feelings about what the Right way to do things is -- even if the context is a belief set I'm not entirely personally committed to. (Though my investment in Rules is not as great as Ari's.) That I feel like given certain starting positions, which I may or may not personally sign on to, I can have strong opinions about what "should" follow from that.
