Oh my God, AVENGERS!!!

May 05, 2012 22:31

So I took Peter and JoJo (my younger brother and sister) to see The Avengers.  They both say that Captain America is their favorite Avenger.  Thor is still my favorite, because brash, loud, stubborn oldest siblings are awesome protagonists and we need more of them. ;)

I have Thoughts and Feelings about this movie.

How about those jeans shorts on Pepper, huh? She and Tony were so precious together.

And you know, tumblr spoiled me about Coulson ages ago, and I was still crushed when it happened. Like, I know it's possible they can fix it an bring him back, and I feel like it's about 50/50 that they will, but it still hurts. HE WAS SO SWEET AND ADORABLE AND A FANBOY AND WHYYYY.

And Tony and Bruce being science bros together, OH MY GOD, the best thing in the world. I kind expected more Tony/Steve stuff, but I do not mind Tony/Bruce bromance instead. THEY DROVE OFF IN A CONVERTIBLE TOGETHER.

Somehow, I don't think I noticed the jean shorts. Maybe I did. I don't know anymore.

I got cocky and thought he wouldn't be allowed to kill anyone, and evidently, both Whedon and Clark Gregg say he survived, but that was still a major shock.

YES. "Finally, someone who speaks English." They were adorkable. AND THE POKING. Bruce was totally okay with it and everything. I have found that I really don't need Tony/Steve to survive. Bruce/Tony seems pretty darn awesome.

Jean shorts and no shoes! She was completely dressed down, and they were soooo cuddly together! I had forgotten how much I shipped them, but I really really do.

Please, it's Joss. He wouldn't do a project if he wasn't allowed to kill someone. But yeah, I have heard that it's a little bit up in the air, and we don't actually see him die/hear the medics call it. But if he did survive, it's kind of super cruel to everyone to keep the deception up for very long.

I hope the next Iron Man movie features some epic Tony/Bruce bromancing, maybe with Rhodey there too.

Also, also: WHAT THE HELL, WHY DID LOKI AND THOR LOOK LIKE THEY WERE ABOUT TO MAKE OUT EVERY TIME THEY GOT WITHIN TWO FEET OF EACH OTHER? I don't know why I'm shouting. But seriously. Seriously. I'm still super pissed at Loki, but I was still practically yelling "JUST KISS ALREADY" whenever Thor put his hand on Loki's neck and got all "Listen, brother, we can defeat them together!"

Part of me ships them like crazy, and another part of me thinks Pepper deserves a better man than Tony Stark.

Please, it's Joss. He wouldn't do a project if he wasn't allowed to kill someone.

That's what I thought right after Coulson died. I'm sure, if he lives, Coulson will explain the whole thing in a very calm and understanding manner and we will all go on loving him like we do. And he knows that his death would be more inspirational than his survival, so faking it would have a short-term tactical advantage.

Yeah, I hope these guys all make cameos in each others' movies, bromancing and hanging out until the latest supervillain shows up.

BECAUSE THEY'RE THOR AND LOKI AND THAT'S WHAT THEY DO. Their slash chemistry is off the charts. And there's the way Thor grabbed Loki when they jumped off the plane. And Loki watched Thor and Iron Man's fight with such voyeuristic glee.

Man, what a ride, huh?

Bruce/Tony OTP---I thought they seemed like they genuinely liked each other.
Yesss, I heard beforehand that they were going to be science bros, and I was not disappointed. I think I ship them the most, TBH. If only Tony wasn't so cute with Pepper...

I loved the scene between Loki and Black Widow SO DAMN MUCH.
Double yesss! Go, Tasha, totally gaming that arrogant ass.

Snarky banter = WIN. All of it.
Definitely. I wish I could remember more of the awesome lines, but it all kind of got blown away when the Hulk whipped Loki back and forth like a ragdoll and the whole (very big) audience applauded.

Enver Gjokaj (Victor from Dollhouse) as a policeman (not as badass, but it was nice to see him).
Ohh, I had such a Whedon fangirl moment when I saw Enver. I adore that guy- SO wish he was in a bunch more stuff.

I know! I think I'll need to see it again because there was so much going on at all times!

Bruce/Tony/Pepper = OT3. For the cuteness factor.

What I loved about that scene is that the backstory she gave him was at least partly true, and just when you think Loki has power over her, it turns out she was in control the entire time. It was just so well done.

Yes! There were so many fantastic one-liners, but I can only remember a couple of them ("Dost thy mother know thou wearest her drapes?"). The audience at my showing cheered at that moment. It was so hilariously satisfying.

Me, too! He such a fantastic actor, but the only other thing I've seen him in recently was the latest Hawaii Five-O episode, where he played a stereotypical Eastern European gangster/flunkie (he totally knocked it out of the park, though). I hope he breaks ( ... )

Honestly, I trust Joss more than Marvel because Joss might kill people off, but most of the time he brings them back, either the same or more badass.

However,
Joss Whedon: In our first meeting Kevin Feige said, this is what we're gonna do and I said, "Oh but you have to go out there and tell everybody that it was your idea because this is going to get me so much shit. Because they are all going to be like, "Oh he did it again!"

He was The Other, not Thanos. I wasn't aware that we knew exactly who The Other was, just that he takes orders from Thanos to give to Loki.

I Really, REALLy want to see it again, so full of win.

Actually, there wasn't going to be any romance at all and RDJ was like, No, Pepper MUST be in it. She and Tony are together now. I'm also glad since Pepper was the first comic Marvel character to meet Phil Coulson...of course, if we didn't get a scene of her finding out, maybe...because they did seem like borderline BFFs.

And he doesn't sell people's marriages to the devil.

He was The Other, not Thanos. I wasn't aware that we knew exactly who The Other was, just that he takes orders from Thanos to give to Loki.

I was pretty sure the Other was Thanos before he was revealed, working with both Loki and the Chitauri.

I want to see it, too, but I have to go graduate this weekend. And then see relatives on Sunday (it's like if every comics Avenger went to a picnic and brought food and small children with them).

Well, Tony and Pepper were already together, so it makes sense that we should see them. I meant "no romance" in that there was no story arc forcing Black Widow or Maria Hill with someone, which was really, really nice.
