So I took Peter and JoJo (my younger brother and sister) to see The Avengers. They both say that Captain America is their favorite Avenger. Thor is still my favorite, because brash, loud, stubborn oldest siblings are awesome protagonists and we need more of them. ;)
I have Thoughts and Feelings about this movie.
- NO, WHEDON. COULSON IS NOT DEAD. YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO DO THAT HERE. I choose to believe he's really in a coma in a hospital somewhere, though I'm sure stabbings and comas do not work that way. ...And I just read something on TVTropes that gives me hope.
- All of the characters were wonderful, of course. I really loved Mark Ruffalo's Hulk. Why were the fanboys worried, exactly? Also, Bruce/Tony OTP---I thought they seemed like they genuinely liked each other.
- I loved the scene between Loki and Black Widow SO DAMN MUCH. I don't even know. It was just perfect.
- Snarky banter = WIN. All of it.
- The beginning was a bit slow for me, honestly. I started to get excited when we saw Tony and Pepper in the penthouse together.
- Evidently, Alexis Denisof (Wesley Wyndam-Pryce) was the voice of The Other. Who is Marvel villain whose name I shall not type. Cool in-joke casting, Joss! Lesser example: Enver Gjokaj (Victor from Dollhouse) as a policeman (not as badass, but it was nice to see him).
- I just want more. If there's a sequel, I want more team bonding. In fact, I should go prompt that over at
avengerkink.
- I loved that there was no forced romance anywhere. At all. It was like the world's best genfic.
I know I have coherent thoughts. I just can't voice them properly right now.
