I really hate forums that require you to have 3485348 points/post before you can view a locked thread, download attachments or anything similar to that.
So I was searching for some manga scans and I found someone posted in Baidu a download link (which goes to a random forum). After I clicked into the forum, it requires registration to view the post. Fine. So I took several minutes to register (which somehow 60% of the forums in China hate Firefox and I have to switch back to IE). After I registered, I downloaded the attachment file with the scans, right? Tried to unzip it. It said password required. So I went back to the forum hoping to find the password, and then I realized the password has to be purchased with 20 forum points.
DIE IN A FIRE.
I mean, fine, I understand that it's your file you scanned and uploaded and everything and it would reasonable if you don't want to share it with random strangers that aren't active in your forum, but then don't cross post to places like Baidu where you are like "hey guys I uploaded the newest scans at my forum come join and post twenty comments so you can get the password!"
There are countless forums in China. Chances are, at least half of the people who saw your ~*advertising*~ post won't be active in that said forum.
Sometimes I really don't get the majority of the Chinese forums. I know a few of them are actually worthy for people to care about and stick to, but most of them I just sign up, download the stuffs (and figuring out they don't work in the end anyway) and never go back again. Several years ago I got completely fed up and that's why I ended up in LJ after all. *facepalm* Nowadays I get most of my downloads from English places.
People, please, if you do cross post and the link is hidden/locked, make sure it's something easily accessible to common people within three minutes of clicking.
