This will be broken up into several sections, since lots of stuff happened. I'll try and keep it chronologically accurate, but I make no promises. Here we go...
My cousin Marilyn was an executive at Exxon/Mobil and when she died a couple years ago, she left most of her estate to begin a foundation in her name. My cousins Dan and Jon and I are on the Board of Directors and everyone on my father's side is a part of the foundation. We've met twice, once last March and last week. It's fantastic because we come together as a foundation to do this amazing thing Marilyn enabled us to be able to do, but we also come together as a family. Before last year, I hadn't seen my CA relatives in maybe 5 years. But now I've seen them twice since the foundation began. Once the website is up and running, I'll be more than thrilled to give you the link. =Þ
And yes, 2 hours to the movie theater. On the way back it only took 45. And that was with a stop for gas. The traffic was just awful during rush hour. Boooo-urns!
We donated to 8 charities all together, including a scholarship in her name to the collage she attended, the Tony Hawke Foundation, and Habitat For Humanity to name a few. The others are less known charities, but all equally important.
